Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes Deny Cheating on Spouses Before Their Relationship Was Outed

After finding themselves in the middle of a major cheating scandal one year ago, Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are breaking their silence on the situation for the first time. The first episode of the couple's brand new podcast, Amy & T.J., is finally here, and they're taking the opportunity to make one thing clear to their listeners: When their relationship was exposed in November 2022, they were not cheating on their spouses. At least, not according to their side of the story.

Amy and T.J. started out as cohosts.

But their friendship quickly turned into more, and they ended up being removed from their posts on GMA3 after their romance was exposed to the world, followed by photos of the two of them getting cozy together in what they thought was a moment of privacy.

At the time, both Amy and T.J. were legally married to other people, leading the world to believe that they'd been caught being unfaithful. The couple insists that's not what happened at all.

The opened up about the scandal on their new podcast.

This week, the first episode of their new podcast, Amy & T.J., dropped, and they both stated very clearly that they had not cheated on their spouses.

"[We] lost the jobs we love because we love each other," T.J. said, adding, "To be clear, we were outed as being in a relationship, but everyone else thought we were being outed as adulterers — being outed as cheating on our spouses — and it wasn’t the case."

They both insisted that 'divorce proceedings' were already in progress at that point.

Amy said that "attorneys and mediators" were already involved in her split from ex Andrew Shue, and T.J. revealed that he and his ex, Marilee Fiebig, had been living separately for months at that point.

They both admitted that the time when their relationship went public (and when they both lost their jobs because of it) was difficult, and Amy even said that things got so bad she "wanted to die."

Amy called it a 'year of hell.'

And to bring things full circle, Amy and T.J. decided to release their new podcast on December 5 — the one year anniversary of the day they "were told not to come into work."

Before they were outed, both T.J. and Amy had planned to share their relationship publicly after their divorces had been finalized.

"You made a statement about where you were in your marriage, and I made a statement about my divorce proceeding and those statements were never released," T.J. said.

Today, things are much better for them both.

T.J. said that he's the "happiest and healthiest" he's ever been, while Amy is willing to admit that it's been a difficult time. "Relationships are hard, they’re messy, they’re not perfect," she said. "We have fought for love, and I can say I have never been happier. I am with my best friend."
