Angelina Jolie attended the 2024 Governors Awards with an unexpected plus-one: her son, Knox, 16. Knox hadn’t appeared on the red carpet with his mom in three years. Angelina sported a vintage floor-length gold gown to the star-studded event. Her son Knox, 16, who linked arms with his mom and posed for photos, wore a classic black tuxedo. Knox is Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s youngest son. The last time he supported her publicly was at the London premiere of Eternals in 2021.

Angelina Jolie has said her kids are 'private.'
Because Knox hadn’t walked the red carpet in three years, some fans didn’t even recognize him. A recent interview sheds light on why Angelina’s kids rarely appear in public. On October 27, Angelina told E! News that her kids are “private” people.
Angelina shares Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox, with her ex-husband Brad Pitt. She doesn’t think any of their children will pursue careers in the entertainment industry in the way that their parents did.
“I think they’re especially shy, very private people, and they want to be private” Angelina explained to E! News.
Despite being 'private,' Knox has done voice acting.
In 2019, Angelina told People that her kids have little interest in acting. While filming Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, she couldn’t get her kids to appear in the film. “I tried,” she told People at the time. “None of my kids want to be actors. [They’re into] business, humanitarian affairs, things like that. Nobody was interested!”
Angelina’s son Knox has taken on one minor voice acting role. In 2016, Knox voiced Ku Ku in Kung Fu Panda 3, per IMDb.

During his recent red carpet appearance, Knox simply wanted to support his mom.
Although he tends to stay out of the limelight, Knox wanted to support his mom by attending the 2024 Governors Awards with her, a source told Page Six.
“He typically prefers to stay out of the spotlight and Angelina respects that decision, but he asked if he could join her, and of course she was thrilled that he wanted to be there,” the insider told the publication.
Another source alleged that Angelina seemed to want to 'get under her ex-husband's skin.'
Speaking to the Daily Mail, a source claimed that the sweet mother-son moment also might be a way for Angelina to “get under her ex-husband’s skin.” The insider claimed that “Knox wants nothing to do with Hollywood and has no communication with Brad.”
It's not unusual for Angelina's children to support her behind the scenes.
Although Angelina’s kids like to stay out of the spotlight, they have showed their support for their mom’s career over the years. In August, Angelina told The Hollywood Reporter that Maddox and Pax were on set “doing [assistant directing] work” while she filmed Maria.
“I have never had a set where my family is not allowed to be there because I’m focusing — I’m not that person,” she told the publication. “You can climb all over me or visit. It really meant a lot that my boys were with me on Maria. When I would have really heavy times, they would come over and just give me a hug or a cup of tea.”
