While some fans might have been surprised when Anna Camp came out as bisexual last year, others were more surprised to learn that her girlfriend, Jade Whipkey, is nearly 20 years younger than she is. Age gap relationships can definitely be controversial, and while people have certainly had their questions about what 43-year-old Anna and 25-year-old Jade could possibly have in common, according to Anna, maturity is not an issue in her relationship.
Anna talked about coming out in a new interview with The Mirror.
While speaking to The Mirror at the 2026 MPTF NextGen Summer Party in Hollywood, Anna said, “I realized I was [bisexual] and I want to inspire other people who are going through similar things. It doesn’t matter how old you are.”
Previously, Anna was married to her Pitch Perfect costar Skylar Astin, but they went their separate ways in 2019. Before Skylar, she was married to actor Michael Mosley for three years before splitting in 2013. Jade is the first woman who Anna has dated — at least, publicly.
She called her girlfriend “wise.”
Anna also told the outlet why she believes that Jade is “the one,” and it sounds like she’s an old soul, even though she’s still in her mid twenties. That might help a bit when it comes to bridging that age gap between them.
“She’s one of the most soulful, wise people that I’ve actually ever met, and she’s a poet,” Anna said.
Calling Jade’s poetry “incredible,” she added, “we bonded on a level that I’ve never really had in a relationship before. So I didn’t know what was going to happen, but I knew that I needed her in my life, and I wanted to get to know her, and I still want to get to know her all the time. So she’s truly changed my life.”
This isn’t the first time she’s pointed out Jade’s maturity.
When people were first a bit taken aback by the age difference between Jade and Anna, the actress shared how she really feels in a comment on an Instagram post from Pink News about their relationship last summer.
“Thought I’d jump on here since I follow @pinknews and just say I’ve dated men exactly my age and Jade is FAR more mature than any of them,” Anna wrote at the time. “We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated and can literally talk about anything and everything. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I’m wishing everyone well 🙂 Especially this Pride month.”
If it works for Anna and Jade, that’s all that really matters, despite what some people might think. A big age gap isn’t for everyone, but these two seem happy — it’s hard not to root for a love like that.
