Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, daughter of Mama June Shannon and sister to Honey Boo Boo, has died after a short battle with cancer.
Mama June shared the news on social media.
On Sunday, December 10, Mama June took to social media to announce that her oldest daughter had died.
"With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us," she wrote on Instagram, along with a family photo.
'She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM.'
The announcement continued: "She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her like she won’t and we will be updating y’all with more information as we get it today.
"We love y’all and continued prayers and thoughts for our family doing this difficult time," she concludeded.
A few days ago, rumors circulated that Anna wasn’t doing well.
Days before Anna died, Mama June took to social media to tell people that despite the rumors, Anna was still alive and fighting. She continued to ask fans and followers for prayers and well-wishes.
"Y’all we r asking for prayers for our family as we are going through this process, we really appreciate y’all for all the thoughts and prayers and we will update y’all whenever we can just know that all of your thoughts and your prayers are very much appreciated during this time," Mama June shared on Instagram at the time.
In a reel, Mama June alluded to changes in their life and gave a quick update on Anna.
“This will be my last post til that time comes for us,” she wrote in the caption of the video posted on December 9.
“We are asking for continued prayers and thought til I post again we r enjoying the time and making the memories that will last us a lifetime.”
Several family members have taken to social media to share their feelings on Anna’s passing, including Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson.
"This is one post I wish I didn’t have to make ," Alana shared on Instagram. "Last night we all surrounded Anna with love & let her know it was okay to go. Unfortunately around 11 pm Anna took her last breath. Anna was in so much pain last night but now as a family we all know she is at peace now. I really don’t know what to say as my heart is completely broken.
"Watching my 29 year old sister this last year battle this horrible disease hasn’t been easy. Anna was a fighter & still is," she added. "Lord please wrap your arms around her 2 babies & our family as the next couple of days will make this all a reality ."
She concluded, "I’m so glad that you waited til I was home to take your last breath! I would’ve loved for you to get to see me graduate college but I know you will forever cheer me on in heaven!"
In March, news broke that Anna was diagnosed with cancer.
According to TMZ, Anna was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in January and had begun treatment in March.
