No one ever accused Anna Duggar of being the most well-spoken or outgoing in-law in the Duggar family. For some of those who have followed the former reality TV family for years, though, including disgraced eldest son Josh Duggar, Anna has never truly fit in when it comes to the rest of the Duggar family.
Anna might be as soft spoken and submissive as her mother-in-law, Michelle Duggar. You might think that would give her an immediate “in” for the rest of the ladies. However, in a collection of clips shared on Reddit, there seems to be some looks of vague annoyance of disapproval from some of Josh’s sisters and sisters-in-law directed at Anna at different times in her life on camera.

In the compilation of clips in the Reddit post, there are scenes of Anna from over the years on 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On. There are moments where the camera pans to some of the Duggar daughters like Jana Duggar or Joy Duggar and their facial expressions read as annoyed, but trying desperately to keep sweet.
A more blatant clip in the video shows Jessa Duggar telling Anna in a very monotone way that her pregnancy feels the same as her previous one did and, despite Anna’s questions about whether or not her baby would come early, there’s no way to know for sure. Anna looks uncomfortable in the moment, and it’s really hard to miss.
Someone pointed out in the comments, “All the Duggar girls demonstrate classic mean girl non-verbal behavior in every interview or snippet I’ve seen them in. Their faces are very expressive, regardless of what their mouths might be saying.”
She really did try hard to be a true Duggar.
Among all the Duggar in-laws, Anna has tried to remain the most faithful to her husband’s family. Even with Josh in prison, Anna is still in Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s inner circle and her children are still in their grandparents’ lives. There are even rumors about Anna living on Jim Bob and Michelle’s Arkansas property.
And in the early years of Anna and Josh’s marriage, before the dominos began to fall one after another involving Josh’s various scandals, Anna played the role of fundamentalist Christian wife well. She had several children with Josh, cooked and cleaned for him, and followed his lead on pretty much everything. And when he was arrested for the federal charges related to child sexual abuse material that would later land him in federal prison, a very pregnant Anna continued to show up for him.
Some people think the Duggar family never truly liked Anna Duggar.
There is a theory among some who have followed the Duggar family for years that Anna isn’t really a favorite for the older Duggar daughters. Not only do those clips on Reddit show that but, according to another Reddit post about Anna’s relationship with her in-laws, users cited Anna talking to Joy Duggar about boys and Joy looking like she was “holding her emotions in” pretty badly.
The same user wrote, “Anna is like the annoying ass nice girl that everyone hates but pretends to like. I think that since they’ve basically grown up with Anna, they find her really annoying.”
