As he attempts to make a comeback, Armie Hammer made some uncomfortable jokes about “roofie-ing” people on a recent episode of his Armie Hammer Time podcast. In 2021, several women accused Armie of sexual abuse and cannibalism. He didn’t face criminal charges, but the allegations affected his Hollywood career.
Since then, the 38-year-old has launched a podcast and has spoken up about his financial struggles. In November 2024, a source told Us Weekly that Armie was “trying to redeem himself” through his podcast. But those efforts didn’t stop him from making a joke about what is commonly referred to as a date-rape drug because it’s used to sexually assault people.
Armie made the comments during a conversation about marijuana.
He revealed in the podcast that he used to smoke “15 to 20 joints a day.” Then, he added that he “loved poisoning people,” and his jokes continued to get worse. Even Armie’s friend and podcast guest, Ashton Ramsey, urged him to not joke about date-rape drugs or poison. That didn’t stop him. “I loved smoking marijuana with people to the point where they were like, ‘I’m so stoned, I can’t find my feet,'” Armie explained.
Admitting that he “smoked more marijuana than anyone on Earth” at one point, he joked that he “loved marijuana roofie-ing people.”
He has also joked about cannibalism.
On a previous episode of his podcast, Armie joked about the cannibalism allegations, calling them “wild” but also saying he “kind of likes the cannibal stuff now.”
In October 2024, he said, “I’m not gonna lie. I’m just like, ‘Hey, I’m a cannibal.’ What makes more noise? ‘Armie Hammer is a cannibal’ or ‘Armie Hammer might not be a cannibal?'” During an appearance on the Painful Lessons podcast in June 2024, he called the cannibalism allegations “outlandish.”
“People called me a cannibal, and everyone believed them,” he said. “They’re like, ‘Yep, that guy ate people.’ Like, what? What are you talking about? Do you know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to eat people! How am I going to be a cannibal?! It was bizarre.”
Now, though, he finds the allegations ‘hilarious’ in some ways.
“Now I can look back with some distance and think, ‘That’s hilarious,'” he said. “Like, people called me a cannibal, and everyone believed them.” In November 2024, Armie’s mom appeared on his podcast and also addressed the allegations, calling her son “stupid.”
“No one was eaten … but you were stupid,” his mom said at the time.
