Just after Blake Lively shared her haircare routine with the world, we’re finding out a pretty unconventional way she uses another one of her hair tools. According to Great British Baking Show judge Prue Leith, Blake uses a hairdryer in the kitchen for multiple purposes — including both baking and cooking — and it’s leaving us with a lot of questions. Namely: How did she even figure out that this would work in the first place?
Prue thinks Blake is a ‘really good cook.’
During an appearance on the UK talk show This Morning on Tuesday, Prue shared a cooking tip that Blake gave her when they cooked together: She uses a hairdryer in the kitchen anytime she needs to defrost something or when she wants to dry icing so that it will set more quickly.
Despite how the public may be feeling about Blake on any given day, it certainly sounds like she has Prue’s approval.
“She’s a really good cook,” she said. “She was such good fun, and the crew loved her, and I think my husband is totally in love with her!”
She’s set to appear on Prue’s show.
Blake will guest star on Prue’s series, Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen, in the upcoming season, but that wasn’t the first time they met. Instead, they first crossed paths when Blake and husband Ryan Reynolds visited the set of The Great British Bake Off with their kids, who are big fans.
“They all turned up and we got friendly. And I said to [Lively], when I started doing Cotswold Kitchen, ‘If you’re ever in the Cotswolds, give me a ring and we might just happen to be filming,'” Prue explained.
“Then one day I got a phone call on Saturday saying, ‘I’m free tomorrow. I’m in the Cotswolds — are you filming?’” she continued. “We weren’t going to film the next day, because it was Sunday, but I got a hold of the crew … and they said, ‘Of course.’”
Blake has talked about cooking plenty of times in the past.
While her cooking tips may be a little questionable, Blake has always been open about her love of cooking and baking, including on her short-lived lifestyle website, Preserve. And even though she used to say she’d never make more than one meal, she loves cooking so much that she doesn’t mind catering to her four kids’ preferences.
“I do really love to cook so I do end up making different things for different kids,” Blake told Delish in June 2025. “Their palates change. They try a lot when they’re little, and then they just wanna go into beige foods. There’s that period. And then they start trying things again. Even my palate changes so much. It’s fun. I love cooking.”
Maybe she was cooking for her kids when she discovered the hair dryer trick?
