Is there anything more intriguing than a likely feud between two uber popular celebrities, especially if they decide to take things to their social media account and throw some shade? This is all speculation, of course, because no one has publicly spoken on the record, but everyone knows that the former Gossip Girl star, Blake Lively, and songstress, Taylor Swift, were nothing but super besties for several years. Then along came It Ends With Us and all its drama and lawsuits, which reportedly turned the friendship on its head. Blake recently shared some new photos on her Instagram showing all her “loved ones,” with a certain singer noticeably absent from the post. Is this some subtle shade or just a regular old photo dump? You decide!
Is a new photo share on Instagram from Blake Lively throwing some subtle shade to her former bestie?
According to Yahoo!, Swifties far and wide are convinced that since the news broke that Blake Lively isn’t going to be invited to her Taylor Swift’s wedding, her subtle response to this may have come in the form of an Instagram post that’s chock full of family, loved ones, fun travels and absolutely no Taylor in sight.
Part of the caption on the multiple photo post reads, “So grateful for the best week with my loved ones.” The photo series is filled with pictures likely from her a vacation overseas spent with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and his time with the Wrexham AFC professional football club in North East Wales in the United Kingdom.
There’s even a shoutout to her “sweet sister,” Robyn Lively, that’s poking a little fun at her thinking that Blake was taking a cute outfit photo while it was actually a video.
All of this seems fairly innocent, so why are people automatically thinking this Instagram post is all about throwing shade at her former best friend?
The actress used to share photos with Taylor quite often on her Instagram.
It was just a few short years ago when Blake would routinely share a glimpse into her life and friendship with Taylor Swift on her Instagram page.
For instance, everyone remembers this photo carousel that showed some pictures from Taylor Swift’s birthday celebration in December 2023. There are several photos of the besties embracing and enjoying their evening with people like Gigi Hadid and Keleigh Teller.
Blake even shared a beautiful caption that reads, “Somehow, she’s even better in real life. Happy, happy birthday to the one and only.” How gushy is that?
Taylor also made the cut in September 2022 when Blake shared some photos of her pregnancy that was causing much speculation. Taylor can be seen sharing a sweet embrace of a pregnant Blake in a bathing suit. It’s a cute photo!
Things have not been the same ever since Taylor was forced to get involved in Blake’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni.

According to Yahoo, this rift between the women stems from all of the drama It Ends With Us lawsuits. Blake is famously suing Justin Baldoni, her co-star in the film and director, for sexual harassment and a “retaliatory smear campaign in a civil suit” back in December 2024.
It was just days later that Justin filed a libel suit against The New York Times, because they wrote a story about the whole thing, as well as Blake and her husband, Ryan, for defamation.
Due to the ongoing legal battles, text messages and emails between Taylor and Blake were made public, which likely didn’t sit well with the Grammy winning singer, because she’s a fairly private celebrity.
So, thinking about everything that both Blake and Taylor have going on in their lives, Blake with the ongoing lawsuits and Taylor planning a wedding to Travis Kelce that likely won’t include her longtime friend, there’s certainly a bit of a case for Blake showing the world — or maybe just Taylor — how she’s doing just fine without her in a public Instagram post.
