Blake Lively Returns to Social Media After Baldoni Lawsuit But People Are Calling Her Post Performative

After Blake Lively dominated headlines for much of 2025 — especially when it came to her ongoing lawsuit with It Ends With Us costar Jason Baldoni — she took a break from social media at the end of the year. But now, nearly five months after the last post on her Instagram feed, Blake is back. There’s just one problem: Many aren’t convinced that her starting to share again is actually a sincere move.

Blake shared photos from a week with her family in the UK.

Blake and her family made the trip across the pond out to see Wrexham AFC — the soccer team that husband Ryan Reynolds is a chairman of alongside fellow actor Rob McElhenney — compete, and now, she’s sharing her adventures in the UK, complete with photos from the field and a couple of blurry pictures of her kids.

“So grateful for the best week with my loved ones,” Blake wrote in her caption. “Thank you @wrexham_afc and all the players and everyone who works at that stadium for the performance of a lifetime. The greatest 10,000 people to share an emotional roller coaster with is in Wrexham.”

The comments on her post are positive, but the ones found elsewhere are not.

There’s nothing but support and positivity to be found in the comments on Blake’s actual Instagram post (though that may be because her settings limit who can comment on her posts) but over on Reddit, where she is being totally picked apart by critics.

Some criticized her fashion choices, with one person writing, “Blake has the uncanny ability to make expensive designer items look cheap and tacky.”

Others made it very clear that they’re still taking Justin Baldoni’s side on the lawsuit: “I was skeptical to call her a narcissist but I got to say, being committed to thinking you’re free of any wrong doing while obliterating someone else’s career, friends, livelihood… to leverage your own is diabolical.”

Some people believe she’s trying to cover up bad press.

Some commenters made it clear that they believe that the timing of Blake’s post was strategic, since earlier this week, reports were published about Blake reportedly being in panic mode as Justin’s defamation case continues to move forward. This has led some of Blake’s biggest critics to believe that she’s trying to distract from what’s going on in the news.

“This is Blake’s worst nightmare,” an insider told entertainment journalist Rob Schuter this week. “Discovery means texts, emails, DMs — everything could come out.”

Another insider said, “This isn’t just a lawsuit anymore. It’s a potential exposure of how Hollywood really operates behind the scenes,” adding, “There’s real anxiety. They know once discovery starts, there’s no controlling what comes out. She was prepared for a fight. She wasn’t prepared for everything to be laid bare.”
