Blake Lively’s Met Gala Moment With a Dress Handler Is Going Viral & People Are Divided

Even with the Justin Baldoni lawsuit settled, Blake Lively can’t catch a break. Regardless of what the majority of people believe about the he said/she said of it all, Lively is still getting critiqued for pretty much everything she does and it might be a whole, if ever, before it all blows over. Be that as it may, she still attended the Met Gala.

Come Hell or high water, the It Ends With Us star was determined to show up and show off in a designer gown. But on Instagram, someone shared a clip from the Met Gala’s red carpet where Lively seemingly snaps at one of the dress handlers. Is that what she really does in the moment caught on camera? Some people are divided.

She gave off “mean girl energy” at the Met Gala.

The user who shared the clip on Instagram wrote on the screen, “The dress said couture. The energy said ‘per my last email.'” In the caption, they added, “No one has ever looked more like they were about to CC HR on the red carpet.” In the video, Lively tries to pose with her gown and its long fluffy train. When the Met Gala employees try to arrange the train in the right way, Lively seems to almost scold them at first.

Then, she smiles, and poses for more photos. Because the moment was so fleeting, some users commented on the clip to say that Lively was definitely not in the wrong. Others were here for more Lively slander regardless.

“It looks like she’s bossing everyone around,” Someone commented. “Mean girl energy.”

Another added, “The mask slipped and then she was nice.”

While some people came to Lively’s defense in the comments, and in replies to some of the comments left by other people, there were plenty who readily trashed her for simply attending the event.

“Yeah, that’s about right,” a user wrote. “Blake Lively bossing people around. Why is she even at that event? Isn’t she hated by now?”

Someone also commented, in reference to the text on the screen that the original poster made with the clip, “Per my last lawsuit.”

“Is she always so high maintenance?” Another added.

Others think she was just directing the dress handlers.

Some might think Lively was micromanaging the Met Gala employees. Others saw Lively’s behavior as a little unnecessary from the one clip alone. But some Lively apologists came to her defense and they quickly shared in the comments that they see the clip in a totally different way than those who were quick to shame her.

“It looks to me like she’s instructing the people who are hired to assist celebrities on the carpet how to help or not help with her dress,” a commenter wrote under the Instagram video. “Not mean or bossy just delegating like a boss.”

Someone else wrote, “Misogyny in this comment section is disappointing. A woman can give orders and not be mean about it.”

People called her out for paying for her Met Gala ticket out of pocket.

The Met Gala is always a who’s who of who is important. But it’s also a way for designers to showcase their clothes in a big way. Because of that, according to CBS News, designers often pay for tables. Celebrities who wear the designer’s clothes then get to sit at the table. Bit Lively, though, it might be a different story.

According to rumors discussed on a Reddit thread, Lively was not personally invited to the Met Gala in 2026. Therefore, she is rumored to have had to pay the $100,000 ticket price herself. However, per one Redditor, “You have to be invited to the Met Gala, you cannot get in otherwise. It is a charity ball, everyone pays to get in.” Still, Lively is having a hard time winning over new fans.
