Blake Lively Wears Britney Spears’ Iconic Versace Dress to the ‘It Ends With Us’ Premiere

When Blake Lively hit the red carpet at the premiere of her new movie, It Ends With Us, she was wearing a outfit that many people could instantly recognize. Blake wore Britney Spears' iconic butterfly Versace dress to the premiere and took every opportunity to gush over what a big impact the pop legend has had on her over the years. And yes, before you ask, this is the actual dress that Britney wore in 2002 — not a replica.

Britney originally wore the dress in 2003.

Britney famously wore the multicolored gown to the Versace show at Fashion Week in Milan, and now, more than 20 years later, it's finding new life on the red carpet. It seems appropriate that Blake would wear it to the premiere for It Ends With Us, since Britney's song, "Everytime," is featured in the movie.

Blake gushed over the gown (and the first woman to wear it).

While talking to People at the premiere, Blake confirmed that this dress is the same exact one that Britney wore in Milan — though she did note that she thought it should be in a museum.

"It is Britney's actual dress," she said. "It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But it's on me. I feel so lucky!"

She also paid tribute to Britney online.

On Tuesday night, Blake shared a photo on her Instagram Stories of Britney wearing the dress, calling the singer "the ultimate queen."

"Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work," she wrote. "Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories. So excited about your biopic and all you have to come."

Britney may make her red carpet return soon, too.

Earlier in August, news broke that a Britney biopic is on the way, based on her best-selling memoir, The Woman In Me. According to Variety, the rights to her story have been acquired by Universal Pictures, and Jon M. Chu has signed on to direct with Marc Platt producing.

Blake's look is getting major praise.

On Instagram, fans couldn't stop gushing over how great Blake looked at the premiere.

"What a statement for this dress and what it represents in line with the movie!" one person wrote.

Others were glad to see Blake lifting Britney up, with one commenter calling it "The Secret Society of Hollywood Women who Support Women."
