What to Know
After so many ups and downs with sons Jayden James and Sean Preston over the years, Britney Spears is sharing her candid thoughts about her experience as a mother. In a lengthy post the 44-year-old singer and mom of two shared on X, she revealed that she was kept apart from her boys when they were younger, even before her conservatorship. But even more heartbreaking was when Britney admitted that she feels like she “failed as a mother” because one of her sons recently told her he doesn’t believe in a higher power.
Britney said in recent years she realized her sons were being taken places without her knowing.

Sharing a photo of her sons as kids, running on the beach, Britney said that five years ago, she learned that they were “secretly taken to the beach by my mom and dad” every weekend once summer, and at the time, no one told her.
“I felt demoralized to live in a country where it was accepted for people like my mom and dad to live secret lives with my children… I honestly went to my knees and cried for two months,” she wrote.
She went on to say that she never felt like she got to be “the real me,” adding, “I used to be unbelievably intelligent and 100 percent I was brainwashed into an ignorant system where every godd— person took advantage of me.”
She also explained why she feels like she has ‘failed as a mother.’
Britney said she had a conversation with one of her sons last week who told her that instead of believing in god, “it was all science.”
“In that moment I believed I had failed as a mother because I know there is a Holy Spirit that sits high in the kingdom of heaven,” she continued. “I’ve been there I’ve felt it … I wanna to tell my kids and people in general that I’m sorry for my mistakes in the past.”
Fans are heartbroken for Britney.
Fans are sharing their feelings about Britney’s X post on Reddit, and it’s safe to say those who love her don’t care if she ever makes music again as long as she finds peace after everything she’s been through.
“As a mother, I cannot even imagine being excluded from my children’s lives like this. And by her own family. I would be devastated,” one person wrote. “The thought of ‘Why didn’t they invite me, or even tell me?’ would be too much.”
“It bums me out everyone she’s ever known took advantage of her,” another person added. “We see this time and time again in the industry, particularly with young women, and history continues to repeat itself.”
One thing is for sure: Britney deserves so much better.
