Our heart always goes out to Britney Spears because it seems like she was dealt a rough hand, especially growing up in the spotlight during a time when the media was so utterly ruthless towards young women. But it sounds like things could possibly be getting to a dangerous level. An entertainment journalist who recently ate dinner at the same restaurant as the singer in Sherman Oaks, California, called it an “insane dining experience” where one diner even “feared for her life.” What on earth happened in that restaurant? We’re dying to know!
A journalist dining out at the same restaurant as Britney Spears calls the experience ‘wild.’
On May 13, entertainment journalist, Jeff Sneider, posted on X about something fairly shocking. His initial post said “I am having dinner next to Britney Spears right now and it’s a WILD experience.” After that, he reposted his initial social media share with the words, “She just left and everyone in the restaurant turned and starting talking about it. An INSANE dining experience. One diner feared for her life. This is not a joke…” How very intriguing.
On May 14, TMZ shared a report that spoke to a few sources who said that Britney was dining at a corner table at Blue Dog Tavern in Sherman Oaks on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. The entertainment outlet reported that the singer could be seen that night “raising her voice, screaming, and even barking at times.”
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic and “kind of sad.” At one point, a restaurant patron told TMZ that Britney walked by her table “holding a knife,” which caused some concern for other diners. The witness did share that Britney “may have simply forgotten to put it down at her table.”
A representative for Britney claims this story was ‘blown out of proportion.’
After all this chatter about people’s interesting experience dining out at the same restaurant as the singer, her representative shared a statement with People on May 14 that said the reports about that night were “completely blown out of proportion.”
The rep’s statement said, “Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard. She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors. At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half. This constant attack on everything that she does and this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop now.”
In the early evening hours of May 14, Jeff Sneider reposted part of Britney’s rep’s statement on X with a quote from himself that stated: “I agree with this, for the most part. Will elaborate soon…”
A few people in the comments section on X aren’t too keen on what Jeff posted to begin with and how it could affect the singer’s already strained personal life. One person shared, “Please just stop! You’ve inflicted upon a woman who has already sustained a lifetime of unimaginable abuse and betrayal further pain and damage. Much more than you can imagine. You should be thoroughly ashamed. Just go away.”
Britney has an interesting history with knives.
Britney has been known to post a dancing video or 10 on Instagram, but lest we forget her video shared in September 2023 that featured some knives.
With a few tiny dogs in the background who look like they may be wondering what on earth is going on, Britney can be seen dancing in a midriff showing polka-dot top and white bikini bottoms. She’s twirling around and doing what appears to be a choreographed dance routine. The real kicker is that Britney is holding two rather large kitchen knives while dancing. Her caption for this video did offer one reassuring detail. She shared, “I started playing in the kitchen with knives today 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ !!! Don’t worry they are NOT real knives !!! Halloween is soon 🙈🙈🙈 !!!” They sure sounded like real metal when she clanked them together.
Rolling Stone reported that Britney’s video even led to a welfare check on the singer, which she was none too pleased with. A lot of folks in this Reddit thread discussing the dancing with knives IG video were very worried for the singer. One person shared, “I was (and am) in total support of Britney being released from the conservatorship, because it was controlled by leeches (her family), but yeah, she still needs help. It’s not hard to see that she has mental health struggles.”
