What to Know
From the outside looking in, it seems pretty sweet to be Brittany Mahomes — being married to star NFL player Patrick Mahomes, hanging out with Taylor Swift at Kansas City Chiefs games, having a bigger bank account than most people could ever dream of. But in a new interview, Brittany admitted that the WAG life isn’t always all it’s cracked up to be, and now, she’s being dragged for not being more appreciative of her circumstances… especially during a time when a lot of people are really struggling.
Brittany spoke out about being a WAG.
While posing for a special digital cover of Sports Illustrated‘s SI Swimsuit magazine, Brittany participated in an interview with other WAGs about the reality of being in a relationship with a professional athlete.
In the interview, Brittany said that she hopes she’s able to use her platform to keep everyone who follows along with her and her family inspired.
“I just hope that I’m inspiring women all around the world to still take care of themselves and focus on their health and wellness and still be confident in who they are,” she said.
But that’s not all she said…
One quote from the interview really seemed to stand out.

Also in the interview, Brittany admitted that WAG life is not for the weak — something that was brave of her to say, considering all of the privilege (and money) that comes with the gig.
“I think being the significant other to an NFL player is an incredibly hard role, and we take on a lot of important stuff behind the scenes that people don’t get to see,” she said. “But we also get to enjoy life and do things that we love, too.”
Anyone who follows Brittany on Instagram knows that she seems to live a good life with Patrick and their three kids, so her comment has earned her quite a bit of side eye.
Now, Brittany is being dragged.
On Reddit, critics are judging Brittany for her comments big time.
“Marrying a multimillionaire and not having to work sounds like my kind of hard,” one commenter wrote, while another sarcastically contributed, “Being an NFL wife is hard because not only do you get all the benefits of fame/fortune without having to do any of the work yourself or suffering from any of the downsides of celebrity, but then on top of all that, if you get divorced you only get tens of millions of dollars in the settlement that you didn’t earn. Honestly hats off to these brave troopers. I don’t know how they do it.”
Nobody’s life is perfect, and we each have our own problems — not to mention the fact that living in the spotlight (and always being subject to scrutiny like this) definitely has its drawbacks. Still, it’s probably a lot easier to handle those problems when you’re flush with cash.
