It seems like injuries of some sort — minor and major — seem to be a running theme in the Mahomes family, especially this past year. With her husband, Patrick Mahomes, in rehab trying to get ready for the next football season, Brittany Mahomes shared an update on her Instagram stories that she’s been suffering from a painful wrist condition for the past year that’s finally been diagnosed. The internet can’t help but be at least a little bit skeptical of this polarizing mom of three, especially when she’s been sharing her workout routines which heavily involve using her wrists!
Brittany Mahomes shares with followers she’s been diagnosed with ‘mother’s wrist.’
According to People, Brittany Mahomes, who is a mother of three and wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, shared in a series of Instagram stories on May 5, 2026, that she’s been dealing with a painful wrist condition for about a year.
In the first post, she shared over a screenshot of her workout routine, “My workout yesterday before I finally decided to go to the doctor about my wrist 😵💫,” per People. For her second update, which can be seen above in the Reddit thread, Brittany shared a screenshot of a description of her condition. She shared, “To find out I have this.. Been battling it for probably around a year now thinking it will just get better, well it never did and started to get pretty bad… so now…”
The screenshot shows that her condition is called De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, which can also be known as “Mother’s wrist.” The symptoms descriptions show that it can involve pain, swelling, stiffness, weakness, and difficulty moving the thumb’s side of the wrist.
In the third slide shown by People, Brittany shared a photo of her arm wrapped in an Exos wrist brace, which reportedly often used for people healing from fractures and sprains. Brittany captioned the photo with, “I get to wear this cool thing.. But anyways back to my workout.”
This is where some people are starting to shake their heads a little.
Some people on Reddit tend to feel that Brittany may be milking her condition.
It seems that some people aren’t feeling all that sympathetic towards Brittany and her wrist issue.
The individual who shared Brittany’s screenshot on Reddit captioned the post with, “There are literally people dying Brattney. No one cares about your minor wrist pain.” Ouch.
Another person in the Reddit thread couldn’t help but wonder if Brittany was showing her wrist condition to help persuade followers about how much she does at home with her kids. “I mean regardless of timing of the workout, if her wrist is so bad why doesn’t she wear the brace or tape it when lifting weights? She’s trying to hard to look like she’s a hands on mom like we don’t know she has Nannie’s on demand,” they wrote. Wow. Now, that is a strong assumption.
If you’ve been following sports-related news for a while, you’ll probably know about her husband’s injury and how he’s been rehabbing his knee. Another person couldn’t help but make a correlation there. “Anyone else noticed she has been talking about her injuries first her back and now this ever since Patrick got injured? Oh my thats one way of desperate attention seeking. Tell us you are living through your spouse without telling us,” they wrote.
Another redditor just couldn’t comprehend not taking a day or two off with their workouts when you have this condition. “Complaining of wrist pain and then in the next slide shows herself flexing her wrists without a brace to do squats. Make it make sense,” they wrote. That’s a completely fair point.
This isn’t the first time the internet has been annoyed with Brittany.
Unfortunately for Brittany and her PR team, this is not the first time that she’s caused a bit of a stir online. At least with the wrist stuff, it’s a lot less serious.
In 2023, People reported that Brittany jumped to her brother-in-law, Jackson’s defense, when he was accused of sexual assault. A person in this Reddit thread explained what Brittany chimed in on when it came to that serious allegation. “Just a little remind Brittany mahomes told us to “shut up” and that “we’ll never walk a mile” in Jackson mahomes shoes after surveillance leaked of him grabbing a woman by the neck. The victim was then harassed by many kc residents,” they shared. That sounds absolutely awful.
Another person in the Reddit thread brought things back to Brittany’s alleged political affiliations, which have been much discussed the past few years. “Also another reminder Brittany mahomes deflected and called us jealous haters after she was caught liking trumps project 2025 post last year. And it was actually posted in this sub. Mahomes mother & brother are huge magas. Especially his mother,” they wrote. Yikes.
It’s kind of seeming like Brittany lacks some self-awareness when she heads online to post things. Perhaps her PR team should assist her?
