Catelynn Baliterra Called ‘Negligent’ Over Daughter’s Camp Photos

Teen Mom star Catelynn Baltierra is no stranger to criticism, but this situation might catch her a bit off guard. After she shared that her daughter, Nova, went to sleepaway camp, Catelynn got called out for being a "negligent" mother for allowing her to go in the first place, and people seem very divided on this matter.

It all started when Catelynn shared photos of Nova's first camp experience.

"Nova's first ever sleep away camp and she instantly made a new friend in .5 seconds!" Catelynn wrote on Instagram. "This girl amazes me on the daily she has no fear when making new friends and loving people for who they are! I know she will have the best time ever but man it’s hard just leaving her!!! Momma made her bed and unpacked all her things! My babies need to STOP growing up and being independent."

People weren't necessarily cheering on this choice, though.

As Inquisitr pointed out, fans on Reddit were concerned about Catelynn's choice to send Nova to an overnight camp at the age of 8, especially because even just a single night sleepover party has become controversial for a lot of people right now.

"I'm glad people here had good times at sleep away camp. I just think times have changed though? I live about an hour or two away from Cat and Ty. Most parents dont even do one night sleepovers anymore with friends," one commenter wrote. "Think about the people that would sign up to work at sleep away camps these days. Its no longer a fun experience or pays well. And they are Strangers. I would never."

One person said this would be their 'nightmare.'

"I truly hope she has a good time but as a parent, sleepaway camps are my nightmare. I haven't even told my kids they exist so I don't have to have the argument with them when I say no," the commenter wrote.

Other people shared that camp is one of their most treasured memories of childhood.

"As someone that went to summer camp her whole childhood and went on to be a counselor for two years, I'm so happy she gets to go to camp! Camp is the best," one person shared.

Cate did get plenty of support on her post, though.

And that included an extra sweet message from her Teen Mom costar Maci Bookout.

"Y’all did that!!! Y’all created this beautiful girl and helped her grow by creating a safe space for her to do so! and then took it a step further by consistently showing up for her which helped her build trust within herself = independence! Great job mom & dad … go be great Nova!!" Maci wrote.

Now, the fam is back together.

Nova is already home from camp, safe and sound with her mom and dad, as we can see in Catelynn's most recent Instagram photos, so it seems like everything went well for her!

Going to camp is such a big choice, but it's up to each parent to decide what's right for their kids, and as far as we can tell, it looks like it was the right one for Nova.
