Sometimes when you’re a public figure, things have a way of escalating faster than it would for an average person. Specifically, if you’re calling something out online, the drama can spiral fast, and that’s exactly what happened when former Teen Mom star Catelynn Baltierra logged on to social media, clearly fired up about something she recently saw. Catelynn didn’t just address the situation… she went in, yelled at people, and called the situation out.
But, in doing so, the situation backfired on her pretty swiftly.
On April 7, 2026, Catelynn took to TikTok to vent about something she was seeing being shared online about her bio-daughter, Carly who was born in 2009 and placed for adoption, and recently went to her high school prom. Catelyn’s frustration was loud and unmistakable, and she directly called out adults for criticizing the now-teenager’s body, making comments on the photos of Carly going around on social media (not shared by Catelynn), and asking why anyone thinks it’s okay to comment on a minor like that in the first place.
The issue makes total sense to be upset about. It’s gross to comment on anyone’s body, but even more so when it’s a young woman. Some people had reposted Carly’s prom pictures and made comments that would never be OK to say to anyone, and it’s extra gross to do so publicly.
Catelynn wasn’t having it, clearly mad, and that’s what she addressed in the video she posted to TikTok. She doubled down, saying skinny-shaming is real, “horrible,” and something she refuses to tolerate on her pages—warning that anyone who makes those comments will be blocked immediately. She blasted the “grown adults” for the rude comments they were making.
Instead of just rallying support, the post quickly turned into a whole debate.
While many agreed that commenting on anyone’s body crosses a line, and that it’s horrible it’s happening to a young teenager. But others were confused by how Catelynn handled it, why she was talking about this on her large, public platform. And especially why she was amplifying the situation at all, and repeating the same comments people were writing about the teenager.
“Why draw attention to these comments?” one person asked. Another wrote, “Why are you repeating the bad comments??” That seemed to be the sticking point for many of the critics.

They felt like by calling it out so publicly and repeating the insults she may have actually brought more attention to Carly than before. But, there’s was also another layer to this that didn’t sit right with people.
Catelynn and her husband Tyler Baltierra placed Carly for adoption when she was born in 2009, and they currently don’t have an open relationship with her. It’s actually been more contentious over the past few years, with Catelynn and Tyler speaking about their bio-daughter’s parents publicly, which ended with Carly’s parents closing the open adoption in 2023. That context added into the story as a whole made some viewers even more uncomfortable with how publicly this was being discussed.
Over on Reddit, reactions to Catelynn’s video were not gentle.

Some accused Catelynn of continuing to bring Carly into the spotlight unnecessarily given everything that’s happened over the years. One person claims the video “just brings more attention to her life.” Others questioned whether speaking so passionately online was really about protecting Carly or was this about something else entirely and urged the bio-parents to reflect.
One person shared, “I really REALLY, REALLY wish her and Tyler would get some real therapy and let that child go! I feel like they’re doing so much harm to that poor child.”
Still, Catelynn made one thing very clear in her video: she’s angry. She also made it clear that she sees what people are doing and saying, and she’s not going to shy away from calling things out on her public platform if she thinks they’ve crossed a line.
Whether people agree with how Catelynn decided to handle this situation or not, the internet definitely had thoughts, and were not shy about sharing their opinions, too.
