15 Times Celebrities Crashed Fans’ Weddings

Planning the guest list for a wedding can have its challenges, especially when dealing with limited space or a tight budget. Do coworkers make the cut? How about second cousins? Or the ladies from Mom's book club or Dad's golfing buddies? When space is limited and meals are expensive, every seat counts, right? Well, yes. But for some lucky regular folks, they managed to find a little extra room on the dance floor when their wedding was crashed by a major celebrity!

Weddings are always a memorable occasion, even without a surprise appearance by someone like tennis legend Serena Williams rocking a leopard print swimsuit (though who doesn't love a Serena Williams sighting). That being said, we have to imagine that the lucky fans who turned around and discovered an Oscar winner or a chart-topping superstar watching the "kiss the bride" moment had a wedding that none of their guests will ever forget.

From a golf course sighting of a favorite former president to a hotel ballroom serenade from one of our most loved singers, we've rounded up 15 star-studded wedding crasher moments that saw real-life fans getting a major celebrity surprise on their biggest day.

The only thing more amazing than having one celebrity crash your wedding would be having two celebrities crash your wedding! One lucky couple named Kristine and Will, who were getting hitched in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in 2019, got the surprise of a lifetime when Dwayne Johnson and Danny DeVito (who were together to promote the movie Jumanji) showed up and even sang to them.

Taylor Swift

In the summer of 2016, one lucky couple got a surprise serenade from none other than Taylor Swift. While the crash wasn't a total fluke (Taylor had been invited by the sister of the groom), it was a shock for the lucky couple. We love that she even dressed in her wedding best.

Lil Nas X

We have a theory that whether he's crashing or there as an invited guest, Lil Nas X is probably tons of fun to have at a wedding. In 2020, he casually crashed a reception at Disney World and even took some time to dance with the bride, much to the delight of all of the guests.

Tom Hanks, Part 1

Is there any celebrity who is more universally beloved than Tom Hanks? Well, maybe Dolly Parton, maybe. So we can't help but love the fact that there are multiple accounts of Tom Hanks crashing weddings and happily posing for pictures with excited fans. Be ready to see America's dad more than once in this roundup! This particular happy moment was captured in Pittsburgh.

Tom Hanks, Part 2

Yep, here he is again! Tom Hanks was taking a walk in the park when he spotted a couple posing for their wedding pictures, and of course he had to stop by and wish them well. We love that he spotted them first and not the other way around. He really made the effort to make their day.

Beyoncé

In 2014, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were vacationing in Portofino, Italy, when they happened upon a wedding happening in a seaside chapel. While Jay-Z reportedly declined to pose for a picture, the lucky bride got to grab a snapshot with a bikini-clad Beyoncé.

Serena Williams

Another 2014 celebrity wedding crasher was Serena Williams. She was enjoying some time in the sun on Miami's South Beach when guests from Ruth and Sam Kormoi's wedding party spotted her. Not only did the tennis star pose for pictures, she even posted them on her own Instagram account.

Bradley Cooper

Life imitated art when Bradley Cooper (who coincidentally starred in the hilarious movie Wedding Crashers) crashed a real-life wedding. This happened in 2016 while the happy couple was walking around the campus of Georgetown University, which is where Bradley went to college.

Barack Obama

For Stephanie and Brian Tobe, their wedding date just happened to align with the golfing schedule of former President Barack Obama. The couple, who married in La Jolla, California, were thrilled to get once-in-a-lifetime pictures taken with Obama.

Snoop Dogg

This Chicago couple has their wedding photographer to thank for this wedding crash moment! The photographer spotted Snoop Dogg and his entourage exiting some limos and persuaded the rapper to pop into the reception for a quick photo.

Tom Hanks, Part 3

Here he is again! In 2021, in California this time (man, he gets around), Tom Hanks surprised two brides at their beach wedding, even taking time to pose with the happy couple and their adorable son. Diciembre and Tashia Farries described the moment as the "cherry on top for our big day."

Kevin Hart & Josh Gad

Another couple who got a double dose of celebrity wedding crashers was Rajan and Chandi Patel, who wed in 2014. They got surprised by Josh Gad and Kevin Hart, who were working together on a movie called The Wedding Ringer at the time.

Amy Schumer

For Eithne McAdams and J.P. Swine, their 2015 low-key reception in an Irish pub got a major dose of star power when Amy Schumer showed up and even stuck around to sing along with some songs. Amy was joined by director Judd Apatow and singer Glen Hansard, for a triple dose of celebrity wedding magic!

Jennifer Hudson

Shortly after same-sex marriage became legal everywhere in the US, Jennifer Hudson (who had advocated for LGBTQ marriage equality) crashed a gay couple's wedding and even performed during their reception. We love a diva who loves equality!

Ed Sheeran

We love Ed Sheeran's comment about his surprise appearance at a 2015 wedding. As he put it on Instagram, "Just surprised this lovely couple's first dance. Available for weddings, birthdays, and bar mitzvahs — contact your local supermarket for details."
