Though the trend has certainly been around for a while, it seems like this is finally the time when monochrome is truly getting its moment. It might sound simple to put together outfits that focus exclusively on one color, but it's one of those things that's easier said than done. After all, doing this without clashing is the real challenge. But if this is a trend you've been wanting to try out, plenty of stylish celebrities are already leading the way.
Most recently, Meghan Markle got us thinking about monochrome again when she wore an all-red outfit to an appearance in the UK in September 2022, but she's hardly the first star to go for this trend. Even her royal sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, has gotten in on the action. Sure, they might have the help of professional stylists, but if you have an eye for fashion and follow the example of those who have managed to pull it off before, this might be a fun look to try for your next big outing.

Meghan Markle
When Meghan Markle gave the opening speech at the 2022 One Young World summit in Manchester, England, she didn't just make a statement with her words. Her fiery red outfit from sustainable brand New Tomorrow certainly turned heads, and we have to admire how she managed to color match her Aquazzura heels perfectly to the rest of her outfit. This is real commitment to the trend!

Kate Middleton

While we're on the subject of the royal family, we have to add that Kate Middleton has taken part in this trend herself on more than one occasion. In May 2022, Kate wore an all-blue outfit to visit St. John's Primary School in Glasgow, Scotland, coordinating her top, pants, heels, and coat perfectly.
Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid also went for blue when she tried out the monochrome trend. Here, she's headed to the 2019 CDFA Fashion Awards, looking every bit the trendsetter she has always been. Everything is blue except for her white heels, including her statement bag.
Jennifer Lopez

Leave it to Jennifer Lopez to take on a trend and add a little bit of extra pizzazz to make it her own. During an appearance on Good Morning America, she paired a long aquamarine-colored coat with a jumpsuit that was the same color but sparkly — can't go wrong.
Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian has long been a fan of the monochrome trend — we've seen her wear it dozens of times, both in casual situations and for fancier outings. And anyone who has seen photos and videos of Kim's home knows that she loves using monochrome for her interior design and decor, too.
Khloé Kardashian
Just like big sister Kim, Khloé Kardashian has also hopped aboard the monochrome trend. Here, we see just one example of a time when she pulled off this look perfectly. We're loving how these metallic pants contrast with her top, and the shiny pointy-toe shoes just add to it.
Emily Ratajkowski

Model and celebrity mom Emily Ratajkowski was dressed in a three-piece cream knit matching set when she was photographed walking down the street in New York during the summer of 2022. Between her bandeau top, pants, and sweater, she looked comfy and adorable while staying on trend.
Priyanka Chopra

We've seen Priyanka Chopra wear monochrome outfits while out and about several times, but this yellow look is one of her most striking. With a perfectly color-coordinated top, pants, and jacket, this might just be our inspiration for fall.
Glenn Close

Glenn Close has been following along with the monochrome trend for years at this point, including when she wore this all-lavender outfit to an Oscars nominee luncheon. Considering the amazing career she's had, we're not at all surprised that she stays so on trend.
Katy Perry

Can we talk about how many layers this look has? Katy Perry has never been someone who takes the easy route when it comes to fashion, and this outfit is just more proof of that. Her midnight blue shades here are perfectly coordinated, from the coat to the shoes to the sparkly sequined bottoms.
Margot Robbie

In 2017, Margot Robbie turned monochrome into a power move when she showed up in New York wearing this red suit. Who could deny that this lady meant business when she wore an outfit like this? We're getting major '80s vibes from this.
Rihanna
Even while pregnant, Rihanna never let her style game slip, and this photo is the evidence. She paired a salmon colored bodycon dress with a coordinating fuzzy coat that allowed her to look stylish while also showing off her bump at the same time. Who else could pull this off?
Blake Lively

Pink has always been one of Blake Lively's best colors, so it's no surprise that she was able to put together an outfit like this with pink at the center of it all. This is a gorgeous shade, but mostly, we love that she managed to incorporate a pattern in her top to keep things interesting.
Zendaya

We would never expect Euphoria star Zendaya to show up to Paris Fashion Week without looking her best, so we were not surprised at all that she decided to go with a hot pink monochrome ensemble to attend the Valentino show. She even perfectly matched the brand's backdrop!
Queen Elizabeth
It would be impossible to talk about the monochrome trend without also giving a shout-out to the late Queen Elizabeth, who made it the cornerstone of so many of her royal fashion moments. Known for her colorful suit collection, the Queen always made sure her colors perfectly matched up — suit, hat, shoes, and all.
