20 New Year’s Resolutions We Wish Celebrities Would Make

Hello 2022! Yes, it's the start of another new year. For a lot of people, that means it's time to move out of the deliciously lazy, post-Christmas week groove of eating all the snacks and wearing all the comfy clothes. Although we'll miss our cozy holiday snack routine, it's time to start thinking about a return to healthier habits in the new year.

From a new fitness routine to building a better budget, self-improvement season has arrived once again. But why should we be the only ones trying to make ourselves better? We think celebrities should be joining in the fun, too.

And even though it is common practice to make New Year's resolutions for ourselves, we thought it would be a lot more fun to make them for our favorite celebrities instead. Now, did any of these famous people ask us for suggestions for resolutions? Well, no. But does that mean we don't have some strong opinions about how they could make their seemingly glamorous and privileged lives even better? Heck no!

From celebs who need to quit some nasty bad habits (yes, Ben Affleck, we are calling you out!) to those who just need to take a break, wear some sweatpants, and chill out in 2022, we've got 20 celebrity New Year's resolutions that we think all fans of celebrity gossip will appreciate.

Anna Duggar

Poor Anna Duggar. She's got a house full of kids, a husband in prison, and her in-law's family is basically starting to fall apart from scandal after scandal. It can't possibly be easy for the former 19 Kids and Counting star to figure out what her future looks like from here, so our resolution for her is that she finds a great divorce lawyer who can help her move forward with her life and finances without her creeper husband.

Khloé Kardashian

People who follow Khloé Kardashian on social media know that three things are true. One, she is a chronic user of aggressive contouring, filters, and photo editing software (and maybe some fillers and plastic surgery, too? Allegedly, of course). Two, people on social media love pointing out every time she looks like she has a new face. Three, Khloé seems annoyed when people point out that she has a new face. Our resolution for her: Skip the crazy filters (and fillers) and embrace your lovely, real face and stop the haters in their tracks!

Taylor Swift

After releasing two albums per year for the last two years, fans of Taylor Swift really want her to make two resolutions: Resolve to take some time off to prevent burnout, and resolve to keep making moody, perfect albums so we can have more new music in 2022. (Yeah, the lady can't win!)

Dolly Parton

She's the patron saint of country music who does it all. She sends kids free books, helped fund COVID-19 vaccine research, and wrote "Jolene" (which is an all-time banger). Our resolution for her is this: Just keep being an unproblematic fave we can all unapologetically love. We've lost so much in the last few years that we can't lose Dolly as an icon, too.

Ben Affleck

We're happy for Ben Affleck. He's back with Jennifer Lopez, and that seems to be going well. But we can't help but notice in some of those paparazzi pictures that he is still smoking. In addition to being so terrible for his health, he is dating an ageless wonder and smoking causes wrinkles. Our resolution for Ben is to quit the cigarettes and stay hot for J.Lo's sake.

Aaron Rodgers

Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers has been getting a lot of attention lately for his refusal to get vaccinated against the coronavirus, plus his dishonesty about his vaccine status earlier in the season and for being a crybaby that people are mad about him lying about his status. Our resolution for him and all the other anti-vax celebs, is simple: Get vaccinated and do your part to help end the pandemic.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian is rarely seen in public wearing anything that isn't skintight, made of latex or leather, or is in some other way majorly constricting. Our resolution for her is this: Let yourself breathe! Spend a month in sweatpants (or Skims!). Take out the hair extensions. Skip the glam squad. Don't post on social media. Just get divorced, hang out with your kids, and chill.

Prince William

Whew — there is a lot of gossip right now about Prince William. Did he stray from Kate? Is he the one behind many of the nasty rumors about Harry and Meghan? We're not saying we know the answers to those questions, but we are saying that our resolution for him is to concentrate on being the best husband he can be this year. He needs to focus less on his feelings about Harry and Meghan and more on how to make sure his own royal house is in order in 2022.

Rihanna

Every time the video of Tom Holland dancing to Rihanna's hit "Umbrella" makes its way around the internet again, we're reminded both that Tom has moves and that we miss Rihanna's music. Her last album came out in 2016, so our resolution for her is to please, please drop some new music in 2022!

Cody Rigsby

Cody Rigsby went from being famous on Peloton to being almost a household name, thanks to his third place finish on Dancing With the Stars. But on behalf of Peloton riders everywhere, we want him to resolve to not leave the bike in search of his next big break. We need our #Boo to keep us laughing our way through those tough interval classes.

Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell is interesting because she is fiercely protective about privacy when it comes to photos of her kids but also a chronic oversharer when it comes to details of their lives that might prove to be embarrassing (like that one of her daughters was a very late potty trainer). Our resolution for her is to keep the stories that might get her kids teased at school out of the media until they are old enough to share themselves.

Chet Hanks

OK, realistically, Chet Hanks (son of Tom Hanks) barely counts as a celebrity, but he pops up on social media often enough that we want to make a resolution for him. Please stop. Stop the uninformed COVID-19 comments, stop the cringe-worthy fake Jamaican accent — just stop.

Kendall Jenner

Here's an easy resolution for Kendall Jenner. If she is invited to any weddings in 2022, she should resolve to wear a dress that has actual fabric covering her boobs. We know she's got a banging body, but maybe somebody else's wedding isn't the best time to show it off?

Lizzo

We love Lizzo! But it was seriously disappointing to hear her call singer Chris Brown her "favorite person" in 2021. Chris is so problematic and not just for his brutal assault of Rihanna, so we hope Lizzo resolves to learn more about his past and the impact of domestic violence before she calls him a favorite again.

Meghan Markle

Our resolution for Meghan Markle is simple: Just keep living your best life. She and Prince Harry seem content and happy as they live their California dream, and it makes the British media so salty. We're hoping to see more of Meghan in 2022 as she and Harry continue to figure out what their version of being royal looks like.

Check out our Meghan Markle page for all the latest news about Meghan, Prince Harry, and their growing family.

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner is known for throwing crazy expensive and over-the-top parties, especially for daughter Stormi's birthdays. Kylie will have a new child in 2022, and our resolution for her is that she keeps any kid-related parties simple and private. Spending $100,000 or more for a birthday party when your baby daddy is getting sued for the deaths of 10 people just isn't a good look.

Elon Musk

Elon Musk may have been Time's Person of the Year for 2021, but we want him to focus on being a better human in 2022. Instead of wasting so much money on trying to figure out how to colonize Mars, we think he should resolve to fight climate change, COVID-19, and other pressing issues here on Earth first.

James Cordon

People who love musical theater can sometimes be a little extra, but James Cordon takes it to another level. Our 2022 resolution for him has two parts. First, say no to some roles; you don't need to be in every musical. Second, be a little more kind and a little less extra. There are too many rumors out there about you being a secret jerk for us to not flag that as an area for improvement.

Chris Hemsworth

At the risk of sounding completely thirsty, we mostly just want Chris Hemsworth to resolve to keep making Thor movies and to keep posting pictures of his arms (his beefy, beefy arms) on Instagram. What can we say? The heart wants what the heart wants.

Viola Davis

One of the best social media decisions we made in 2021 was to follow the iconic Viola Davis on Instagram. She consistently has the funniest, most uplifting, and repostable memes and videos, so our resolution is for her to stay on the 'gram and keep being one of the most fun people to follow.
