Before she died in 2021, Betty White was long known as one of the most passionate animal lovers in Hollywood. Over her many decades in the limelight, she donated substantial amounts of both money and time to a wide variety of causes to care for animals and prevent abuse and extinction. While she may have been one of the most publicly committed celebrities, it turns out that she is far from being the only star who is completely obsessed with animals.
There are some celebs, including Olivia Munn and Alicia Silverstone, whose animal obsession has led them to partner with organizations such as PETA to try to end fur wearing and to promote veganism as a lifestyle. Other celebs focus their animal attention a little closer to home and are totally obsessed with their pets.
While dogs and cats seem to be the most common pets (both for celebs and the rest of us), there are also some die-hard horse and even lizard lovers in Hollywood. Read on for a glimpse into the pampered and well-loved lives of some of Hollywood’s luckiest pets and the celebrities who can’t get enough of them.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in Titanic may have died in icy water, but he was determined that his precious dogs wouldn’t meet the same fate. In 2021, he had to jump into a frozen lake to save his two Siberian huskies, named Jack and Jill, after they fell in and couldn’t get themselves out. Thankfully they all made it out OK!
