It really seems that celebrity couples are more prone to have big age gaps than others. And we're not just talking about older celebs. We all, of course, know about the bizarre relationships of say Woody Allen and Mia Farrow or Mariah Carey and Tommy Mottola, but there are a ton of younger, more current celebrities who've chosen to completely ignore age and are dating or are married to a fellow celeb who's a lot older. The latest of the lot? Musician Harry Styles and actress and director Olivia Wilde, who shook fans when the eccentric young singer was spotted getting cozy with the 30-something mom-of-two.
As unexpected as it is, their age difference is nothing new in celebrity circles. Of course, it's usually the man who is significantly older than the woman (though there are plenty of exceptions), but their relationships are certainly not an anomaly. In fact, quite a few of today's most popular and well-known celebrities are in romantic relationships with a big age difference. Many of them are actually really surprising too, and because they've been together so long we just assumed they were closer in age.
In any case, our only guess is that because the celebrity social scene tends to run tight, when there's authentic mutual attraction, many celebs are willing to ignore — or perhaps don't even notice — seemingly inconsequential things such as age.
