It's official: At noon Wednesday, Kamala Harris became the first female vice president in US history, which means women everywhere are celebrating this historic moment, including plenty of celebrity moms. So many of the famous mamas we know and love are taking to social media to share their feelings on Inauguration Day, shouting out Kamala at every opportunity.
Here's what moms such as Chrissy Teigen and Busy Philipps have to say about the new VP.
Busy Philipps
Busy wrote about how excited she and her daughter, Cricket, who is now 7 years old, are to see a vice president who they feel as if they know enter into office. It's pretty amazing the power that books like this give to our children, including this one.
Chrissy Teigen
Retweeting a photo that a fan shared of Chrissy and Kamala embracing, Chrissy — who has joined husband John Legend in Washington, DC, ahead of his performance on the night of the inauguration — admitted that she misses hugging. At this point, we'd say most of us probably do!
Jada Pinkett Smith
Jada Pinkett Smith shared this video of Kamala being sworn in, adding in another tweet, "There is so much work that needs to be done. But … the ground work has been laid that in America … anything is possible. Congratulations to President
@JoeBiden and Vice President @KamalaHarris."
Eva Longoria
Eva Longoria, who has a son named Santiago, took to Instagram to share a photo of herself with Joe Biden, shouting out Kamala in her caption. She wrote, "Today, we make history! Today, we celebrate leaders like President @joebiden and our first Madam Vice President, @kamalaharris. Today is only the beginning."
Taraji P. Henson
Taraji, who is mom to son Marcell, shared the way she's celebrating the inauguration on Instagram.
"So we’re wearing chucks and pearls for today’s #inaguration2021 in honor of @kamalaharris," she wrote. "I WILL CHANGE A PAIR EACH HOUR OF THE DAY. I have a couple more pair. They wouldn’t have fit in the pic YEAH I KNOW I HAVE A PROBLEM. SO WHAT I HAVE A THERAPIST. WORKING ON IT."
Jessica Biel
Though she's a mom to two little boys, Jessica shared photos of different little girls watching Kamala being sworn in on their TVs from home, writing, "To every little girl out there… you can do anything you want." Such a powerful message — and highlights how amazing it is for our daughters to see a woman VP.
Mindy Kaling
Though she wasn't home with her at the time to see it herself, Mindy shared a photo of her daughter, Katherine, watching the Inauguration ceremony, writing, "I was at work, but apparently she said: 'Is that mommy? It looks like mommy.' Best compliment I ever got! It matters. Happy Inauguration everyone.
