And then, those new reality stars — suddenly surrounded with hundreds of thousands of new Instagram followers and a bit more fame than they had before the show — often end up spending more and more time in the company of legit celebrities. And in some cases, romance sparks.

Gigi Hadid
After Tyler Cameron became a reality TV superstar when his relationship with Hannah Brown didn't quite work out on The Bachelorette, he ended up dating Gigi Hadid for a brief period in the summer of 2019. While they were photographed hanging out a lot for a couple of months, it was over by fall, and Gigi got back together with ex Zayn Malik.
Sarah Hyland
Fans fell in love with Wells Adams on The Bachelorette (and then, all over again on Bachelor in Paradise), but none harder than former Modern Family star Sarah Hyland. The couple started dating in 2017 after he DMed her on Twitter, and in July 2019, they got engaged.
January Jones
Not long after Nick Viall's second stab at The Bachelorette on Kaitlyn Bristowe's season, there were rumors that he and Mad Men star January Jones were dating, but there was no confirmation until 2020. She then confirmed it on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast.
"I agreed to go on a date with him, or to drinks or whatever, and as I met him, I was rounding the corner, and I saw him, and he has this very distinct walk, and I had this instinct to run up to him and wrap my legs around his waist — you know, like they do [on the show]? I stopped myself," she said.
Aly Raisman
Long before he was The Bachelor — or came out and got engaged to Jordan C. Brown — Colton Underwood actually dated an Olympian. He and gymnast Aly Raisman dated for six months in 2016, and as he wrote in his book, he was totally blindsided when she decided to break things off. As we all know now, it did work out for the best!
Demi Lovato
After fans fell in love with Mike Johnson on Hannah Brown's season of The Bachelorette, he went on a couple of dates with Demi Lovato, who had been tweeting about their crush on him as the season was airing.
"I'm just getting to know Demi. I think she's absolutely fantastic and I don't want no pressure on her, no pressure on me. We're just trying to get to know each other," Mike told E! News in 2019.
Unfortunately, it didn't last much longer than a month or so.
Hayley Kiyoko
After four years of quietly dating behind the scenes, former Bachelor star Becca Tilley came out as gay and revealed her longtime relationship with singer Hayley Kiyoko in May 2022 after she starred in Hayley's Bach-themed music video. So far, they're still going strong.
Scheana Shay
Talk about two TV worlds colliding! Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise star Robby Hayes briefly dated Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay in 2018. They went on vacation together and on a few dates, but Robby told Us Weekly that their relationship eventually just fizzled out.
Chris Lane
After things didn't work out with Ben Higgins after The Bachelor, Lauren Bushnell ultimately ended up with country singer Chris Lane. Today, the couple is married and expecting their second child. They welcomed their first, son Dutton, in June 2021.
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Jennifer Love Hewitt briefly dated Bachelor lead Ben Flajnik, but according to him, the relationship ultimately didn't go anywhere because he was already under contract to do the show.
"It was in-between the shows," Ben said during an interview on Instagram. "Jennifer is a lovely, lovely human being, and we had a few nice dates together."
He was also rumored to have dated the much-older Kris Jenner, but he says they were just friends.
Jesse Metcalfe
Bachelor villain Courtney Robertson dated actor Jesse Metcalfe from 2005 to 2007, according to what she wrote in her memoir, I Didn't Come Here To Make Friends. "Jesse was exciting and passionate, but a total mess," Courtney wrote in the book. "As much as I liked Jesse, I never felt like I could trust him."
Chase Rice
If you watched Peter Weber's season of The Bachelor, you already know that one of his contestants had history with a celebrity. Victoria Fuller, who vied for Peter's heart, had actually previously dated country singer Chase Rice, which was awkwardly revealed when he appeared on the show.
Tomi Lahren
Infamous political commentator Tomi Lahren dated one of JoJo Fletcher's Bachelorette cast-offs, Chase McNary, in 2017. "We were talking for about two weeks, but we weren't in the same place, so we went our separate ways," he told Us Weekly. "I have nothing bad to say about her. She's a great girl."
