During a Q&A session on Instagram, former Teen Mom star Chelsea Houska opened up about how she really feels when fans leave comments about her kids on social media. And now that her oldest daughter is officially a preteen, Chelsea is struggling with comments about Aubree on Instagram that point out how grown up she looks.
It sounds like one question in particular made Chelsea speak out.
The mother of four was prompted to open up about the fan comments that bother her most after someone asked about how "fast" Aubree appeared to be growing up. As most parents can attest, time really flies when you have children, so on the surface it seemed to be a perfectly harmless question. But it touched on a topic that has apparently been eating away at Chelsea recently.
It sounds like the reality TV star is upset by how comfortable people are talking about Aubree.
Fans have gotten plenty of chances to watch Aubree grow up over the years, thanks to her appearances on 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom. But to hear Chelsea explain it, she thinks that might have given fans a false idea of what they actually know about Aubree.
"I know you guys feel like you know Aubree. Someone was like, 'We’re all her aunties,' and I thought that was so cute, but I do have one thing I don’t like," she explained. "It makes me sick, honestly, when people comment on her body."
Fan comments have gotten under Chelsea's skin.
Commenters have apparently been pointing things out about Aubree's changing body, which rightfully rub Chelsea the wrong way.
"She’s an 11, almost 12-year-old girl, and I don’t know why people feel like they can comment on her body in any way shape or form," Chelsea said. "It makes me not want to post her."
It seems like Chelsea is extra mindful of Aubree's privacy these days.
In May, Chelsea opened up to E! News about the reason why she left the Teen Mom franchise that made her famous. Aubree's privacy, and her ability to speak freely, played a large part in her reason for deciding to end her run on the show.
"There were conversations that Aubree and I were having from time to time, and there came a point where I was just worried because I don’t want her to ever be [feeling] like she can’t tell me things because it’s going to be aired to millions of people or whatever."
Fans know Chelsea has always had Aubree's best interests at heart.
It sounds like Chelsea has realized that as her kids get older, they may have strong feelings about how much of their lives play out in the public eye, which is why Chelsea has said that for now she's ruling out any further shows that involve her children.
"I always say that I would never go back to anything that's about my kids' personal life for sure," Chelsea revealed during her E! News interview. "I don't think I could do that. If something happened to be light-hearted and fun, I don't think I would say no."
Hopefully followers took Chelsea's words to heart and cool it on the comments about Aubree so that she can keep her long-time fans updated on all the goings on in their lives — since it doesn't seem like they'll be showing up on the small screen again anytime soon.
