Chrissy Teigen Says Innocent Holiday Craft Turned Into a Near Disaster

Chrissy Teigen’s attempt to create some holiday magic for her kids did not go as planned — and other moms can relate. What was meant to be a fun craft for the holiday season ended up leaving the mom of four without a front tooth. And while the blunder was definitely embarrassing (especially because Chrissy had to go to her kids’ Christmas recital without her front veneer), other moms appreciated that she shared it.

In a video shared via Instagram, Chrissy showed her kids — Luna, 9, Miles, 7, Esti, and Wren, both 2 — prepping to “grow candy canes.” She helped her kiddos crush up Oreo cookies to fill plant pots with the “soil” to grow the festive candy.

Over the course of several days, Chrissy “planted” new candy canes in the pots.

On Day 1, she put a mini candy cane in each of her kids’ pots when they weren’t looking, making them think that the candy canes grew. Each day, the kiddos added water to the pots to help their candy canes grow. As time went on, Chrissy replaced the candy canes so they got progressively bigger.

By day three, Chrissy lost a tooth.

In one part of her video, Chrissy sat on a couch beside several large candy canes. She then revealed that she lost a tooth while trying to open them. “I’ve been working on candy cane-growing. I tried to open one of these bad boys,” she said, laughing. “My tooth fell off.”

She added, “It’s a veneer. I have the whole piece.” To her, the near-disaster served as an example of the trouble moms go through to make Christmas magical for their families. “This is what moms do for their kids, so you can think you grew a candy cane,” she said. “I was trying to create magic — now I have no tooth.”

Though other moms haven’t necessarily experienced this exact situation, many could relate. One person commented on Chrissy’s video with, “This made my whole night 😆😆 Moms are really [the] magic makers… at all costs.” Someone else added, “I love how real your motherhood posts are. Because it is not for the [weak]!”

It actually got worse.

Not because Chrissy lost any additional teeth, but because she had to go to her kids’ holiday recital before she could get her tooth fixed. She shared footage from the holiday concert, in which she listened to the performances with a missing veneer. “Had to go to a school recital like this,” she wrote over the video.

And even without her tooth, Chrissy preserved the holiday cheer and made sure the candy canes “grew.” At the end of the video, Chrissy (still without her front tooth) posed in front of the pots that had large candy canes in them. It’s not that often that celebrities share things that make them seem so relatable. But many agreed that Chrissy was so real for this, as most people probably would’ve refrained from sharing it publicly.

“Do you know how much you actually help us ‘normies’? 🥺😆” one person commented on Chrissy’s post. Another person added, “This is the realist thing I’ve seen on social media. 🫶🏾”
