’13 Going on 30′ Star Says Her Ex Was a Cult Leader Who Burned Her Life ‘to the Ground’

Christa B. Allen is opening up about how she missed the red flags and fell in love with a cult leader who ultimately “burned [her life] to the ground.” The actress, who is known for portraying the younger version of Jennifer Garner’s character in 13 Going on 30, recently revealed that she’s in the process of rebuilding her life after leaving the toxic relationship. Though Christa did not name names, she shed some light about how she found herself in a “horrendous” situation.

In a video on TikTok, she twirled around outside to demonstrate “how it feels rebuilding your life after being in love with a charismatic wealthy cult leader who burned it to the ground.”

Reflecting on the situation, she wrote, “Let me be very clear: nobody can burn down your life unless you give them access to it. That’s the part I’ve had to own.” Now that she’s out of the relationship, she’s questioning how she ever ended up in it. “I’ve sat with the hardest questions: Why did I trust him? Why did I hand over my power? Why did I silence my own inner knowing?” Christa continued. “The truth is, he was selling fairytales and from luxurious penthouses and private jets, I foolishly bought in.”

She also suggested that her ex partner was not entirely honest or forthcoming. “What I learned is that even if you spend every waking moment with someone — studying, eating, traveling, working, building, dreaming — you still may not KNOW them,” she added. “Especially when you’re dealing with someone who lies as easily as they breathe.”

let me be very clear: nobody can burn down your life unless you give them access to it. that’s the part I’ve had to own. so I’ve sat with the hardest questions: why did I trust him? why did I hand over my power? why did I silence my own inner knowing? the truth is, he was selling fairytales and from luxurious penthouses and private jets, I foolishly bought in. what I learned is that even if you spend every waking moment with someone— studying, eating, traveling, working, building, dreaming— you still may not KNOW them. especially when you’re dealing with someone who lies as easily as they breathe. that realization shattered me, but it also forced me to rebuild from the ground up. and fire is also cleansing. one day I’ll share the full story, but for now I’m walking forward with feet on solid ground and a heart that knows its strength ❤️‍🔥

In the comments, fans urged Christa to share the full story and maybe even write a memoir. “Where’s Hulu to make a documentary … stat,” one of them wrote. Others who have followed Christa for some time said they sensed that something was wrong with her before she opened up about the toxic relationship. “Girl, I had a gut feeling something was off and I’m so glad you’re out of it and finding your way back to yourself!!!” another fan commented.

In an earlier video shared on TikTok, Christa seemingly alluded to the same relationship, writing, “When the super ‘spiritual’ guy you were dating forced you to quit your job because he promised to take care of you … then left you with zero income while cheating and sleeping around with countless women and lying about it all.”

Per Entertainment Weekly, Christa said she would share the full story “one day.”
