HGTV star Christina Haack and her second ex-husband Ant Anstead appear to be getting along much better now. In 2022, the exes were involved in a bitter custody battle. Though they settled the dispute a few months after Ant filed for custody of their son, their relationship remained tense. However, over the past several months, Christina and her TV presenter ex have hinted at reconciliation. Most recently, they even shared a rare family photo on Instagram.
Christina and Ant didn’t follow each other on social media for some time.
It was only after Christina separated from her third husband, Josh Hall, that fans noticed Christina had started following Ant on Instagram again. Around the same time, Ant appeared to start following Christina, too. In September and October 2024, they started interacting on the platform, tagging each other in posts about their 5-year-old son, Hudson. When Ant posted in celebration of their son’s birthday, Christina commented, “Happy Birthday to our sweet boy!”
Then, Christina surprised everyone by asking Ant to be a guest judge on ‘The Flip Off.’
Though they had started publicly interacting with each other, Ant’s appearance on The Flip Off still came as a surprise to many, including Christina’s co-stars Tarek El Moussa (who is also Christina’s first ex-husband) and Heather El Moussa. Tarek and Heather previously told People that the decision to have Ant on the show “really threw us off” because as far as they knew, Christina and Ant “weren’t talking” to each other.
In a promotional clip for the show, Christina admitted that she asked Ant to be on the show “to mess with Tarek.” While Ant was on the show, he accused Christina and her first ex-husband of flirting with each other. However, Heather later claimed that Christina and Ant were the ones flirting.
Ant spoke about their co-parenting relationship while on the show.
As a judge on the show, Ant was supposed to decide who had completed the best guest bedroom makeover. He didn’t do that though. Instead, he decided that Tarek and Heather had lost — not because of their guest bedroom makeover, but because of his relationship with Christina.
“It’s not gonna be something that you want to hear because unfortunately, it puts Christina and me on the same team forever,” Ant said on the show. “Because of that, this judge is swayed, [Christina’s] on my team and you guys lose.”
At the time, he also opened up about how he and Christina have undergone a “transformation” when it comes to their co-parenting relationship. “Hudson is 5 now,” Ant said. “And in those five years, it’s been really, really difficult. And that changed three months ago. The relationship that we have now is really, really important.”
What changed, exactly? Christina has suggested Josh had something to do with it.
During the period of time in which Christina and Ant were not really talking to each other, Christina was with her third ex-husband, Josh Hall. She previously revealed that her relationship with Josh had an impact on her co-parenting relationship with Ant.
“The whole time I was with Josh, I would worry [thinking about how] Hudson’s sports are coming up, [Ant and I are] going to have to be on the field together, how’s Josh going to handle it?” Christina previously told Us Weekly.
On March 10, Christina and Ant surprised fans with a family photo.
Ant’s appearance on The Flip Off seemed to suggest that Christina and Ant have been getting along quite well. Their joint Instagram post confirmed this. In the recent post, Christina and Ant posed for a photo with their son. “Our little gentleman CRUSHED his school performance this morning 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥰,” Ant wrote. “He’s thriving x.” Christina chimed in with, “Sweetest boy ❤️.”
In the comments, fans praised Christina and Ant for setting aside their differences for the sake of their son.
“So thankful for the healing between you two,” one person commented. “Especially for the sake of your son.”
“Regardless of circumstances this is a beautiful family!” a second person wrote. “So happy you have overcome challenges and working together to coparenting!”
Another person noticed that “Hudson looks so happy to have both his parents there with him.”
