We've witnessed a few truly heartbreaking celebrity breakups through the years, but one of the biggest bummers was hearing that Christine Taylor and Ben Stiller had decided to go their separate ways in 2017. That's why we were so excited to hear that they decided to get back together, and now, Christine is opening up about how it happened.
They officially announced their split in 2017.

The news came in a statement that the couple released together after 17 years of marriage and two children together.
"With tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we spent together as a couple, we have made the decision to separate," the statement read. "Our priority will continue to be raising our children as devoted parents and the closest of friends."
Then, 2020 changed everything.

In an interview with Esquire that was published in February 2022, Ben revealed that when the pandemic began, they decided to move back in together, and things had been going well ever since.
"Over the course of time, it evolved," he said. "We’re happy about that. It’s been really wonderful for all of us. Unexpected, and one of the things that came out of the pandemic."
Now, Christine is sharing what happened.
During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show this week, Christine called their reconciliation "organic."
"We had all this time to talk," she said. "There were no other distractions. It was a really special time."
The time apart was good for them.

Even though they'd been separated for a few years before getting back together, they had still been spending time together for the sake of their kids.
"We always stayed a family unit [and] continued to do things together," she said. “We learned as we were going together. There’s just a freedom in that, in the comfort of this relationship and commitment."
It seems like things between them are better than ever.

The pandemic may have made a lot of couples realize that they weren't meant to be together anymore, but it's good to see that it actually did the opposite for Christine and Ben.
May they continue to live happily ever after!
