Whether you agree with Donald Trump‘s politics or not, there is no denying the flak that press secretary Karoline Leavitt has gotten since she joined Trump’s cabinet. To some, it’s for good reason, given her responses to the media during briefings and the way some perceive her to single out more left-leaning journalists and news outlets in a way that criticizes them. Now, Leavitt’s harshest critics are saying she has “aged 10 years” in the five months she has been the press secretary. This is according to multiple posts on X (formerly Twitter).
When Leavitt began her job as the press secretary, fresh-faced and with her signature cross necklace on display every time she appeared in front of the camera, many noted how young she looked. At 27, she did seem to be young for the job. Now, however, many who continue to critique her and who do not agree with the Trump administration have been quick to call out Leavitt for seemingly aging a lot more than she should have in the five months since Trump began his second term as president.

People have speculated about Karoline Leavitt’s appearance since she became press secretary.
It’s hard to say who was first to post on X about Leavitt appearing to have aged 10 years in just five months. Somewhere along the way, though, many of her critics have taken the line and run with it. It’s like the chicken and the egg debacle. No one quite understands what came first, but it’s still talked about plenty.
One user on X shared two photos of Leavitt taken 10 years apart to compare how much they believe she has aged.
“Karoline Leavitt HATES these side-by-side photos,” the person wrote in the post, clearly trolling others. “DO NOT REPOST. @PressSec does not want people seeing this.”
Another person shared before and after photos of Leavitt in reference to “before tariffs” and “after tariffs.”
Commenting on Leavitt’s appearance is nothing new, though. At the start of Trump’s second term, when Leavitt was first introduced as press secretary and began to lead briefings, critics poked fun at her lips. Then, they noted that she appeared to overline her lips and take their criticisms to heart without actually addressing what people had said about her on social media.

Some have even speculated that Leavitt has cheek fillers. If she did have some cosmetic work done, it might explain why some believe she looks like she aged quite a bit in such a short time.
Just a couple of months into Trump’s second term, people on Reddit discussed how old they believed Leavitt to be. One user commented, “Sometimes she looks young like her age and other times, she looks like she’s in her 40’s.”
Another Redditor wrote, “I don’t understand why women under 30 get fillers and Botox because having these cosmetic procedures makes others assume you are older to begin with.”
That goes back to some of Leavitt’s critics being under the assumption that the White House press secretary has had some sort of plastic surgery or cosmetic work done to her face. So far, Leavitt herself has not shared as much with the public. And, despite the focus on her appearance, she has not addressed any of the comments publicly.
