MLB Player’s Vulgar Insult at Female Fan Heckling Him Now Viral & He’s Already Walking It Back

Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong is in hot water now that a video of his NSFW exchange with a female fan is going viral. During Sunday’s game against the Chicago White Sox, the MLB pro can be heard throwing out a few expletives to a White Sox fan who was heckling him from the other side of the fence, and people have a lot of thoughts about the way this played out — including those who think he was right to throw out this kind of insult. Not really what a lot of people would expect during a day out at a baseball game

The woman admitted to egging him on.

As ESPN reported, after Pete didn’t make a catch, he looked frustrated at the situation just as a woman in a White Sox hat began heckling him, yelling, “you suck!” Pretty mild, as far as sports heckling goes.

After hearing that, the 24-year-old fired back, “Suck my f—— d—, b—-.”

While speaking to the Chicago Sun-Times, the woman, who remained anonymous, said that she was celebrating her engagement at the game and knew the party would be close to Pete since they were sitting in the grass-level section.

“Right when he was up at the fence, we’re like, ‘This is our prime opportunity, okay?‘“ she told the newspaper. “So we just got booing him. I said he sucked, and then he said words that I don’t want to repeat, you shouldn’t say to a woman. And then both my brothers were up there against the fence, too.“

People have a lot of thoughts on the situation.

In the comments of the most recent post on his Instagram account, fans let Pete know exactly what they thought about the exchange.

Some were on his side, surprisingly enough. One fan wrote, “Said what needed to be said to her,” and he managed to get over 50 likes (and counting) on the comment.

Others just supplied Pete with even more heckling, writing, “That woman will live in your head rent free FOREVER!!! YOU GOT SMOKED! GO SOX! Wow! SHE OWNS YOU NOW.”

Another called Pete out for his game. “Focus on hitting and fielding lol can’t handle fans saying you suck? Get off the field then. The mildest heckle and you can’t even handle that,” they wrote.

Pete has already apologized… sort of.

It sounds like Pete doesn’t regret firing back at the woman, but he does regret what he said.

“I regret the word choice,” he told reporters, via ESPN. “I’m just bummed out about the word choice and that a bunch of little kids will find their way to social media and see that as well … Again, poor word choice. Directly or indirectly, I don’t think the women in my life would ever think I would use those kind of words regularly.“

The outlet later reported that Pete has been hit with a fine for his misconduct. Maybe this was a learning opportunity for him.
