David Foster Gushes Over His Son’s Drumming Skills as Fans Call the 2-Year-Old a ‘Prodigy’

As parents, we're always hyping up our kids and think they're the best things on the planet. And when they have a skill or a talent they're excited about, we gush over how good they are and how naturally it comes.

But when 16-time Grammy Award-winning musician David Foster gushes over his 2-year-old's musical skills, it's more than just a parent bragging.

David's toddler is already learning the drums.

David, who shares 2-year-old Rennie with singer-songwriter Katharine McPhee, has been teaching the young tot how to play the drums.

David has been sharing some updates on his kid's progress in learning the instrument. And at only 2 years old, Rennie is good.

And not just 'good for a toddler,' but the little dude has skills.

On June 15, David shared a video to his Instagram of Rennie's practice. In the video, the toddler's wearing protective earmuffs while in his PJs.

Sitting at the drums, Rennie taps a tom drum and then keeps a steady beat on the bass drums, cymbal, and snare.

Rennie's talent makes sense, given where his genes come from. Both David and Katharine have incredible musical talent. So it's not really a surprise that their son has also taken to music.

But still, fans were impressed with the recent video.

In the comment section, fans were surprised with Rennie's taken and praised his skills, proving that although his dad is obviously proud of his kid, his son's talent stands alone.

"How does this even happen?" one person asked. "Are there lessons involved? When my son was 2 he took a class where we sat in a circle and banged sticks together."

"Wow!" someone else added. "He's 100% a child prodigy! Incredible!"

"Talented like his parents," added another fan.

"Tell me your parents are David and Katharine without telling me your parents are David and Katherine," another fan joked.

"I can't even wrap my head around this!!" admitted someone else.

"Juuuuust another average moment for just another tremendously musically gifted McPhee-Foster," another commenter quipped.

David has shared a few videos of his son's progress.

In February, David shared a video of his son pretending to play drums with chopsticks. β€œNew use for chopsticks!” he wrote in the caption.

Then, in January, David gave a similar update video on his son. Posting to Instagram at the top of the year, he shared a video of Rennie's skills on the drums.

"Finding his groove. 23 months," he wrote in the caption at the time.

Even though it may not be surprising this little dude is musically inclined, that doesn't make it any less impressive. Go, Rennie!
