Duggar Critics Are Concerned Jim Bob Duggar Will Blame Jill for Her Stillbirth

In the wake of Jill Duggar's devastating news, fans are concerned about the way her family will react. Over the weekend, Jill revealed that she and husband Derick Dillard recently experienced a stillbirth. But after the way that parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have reacted to similar news in the past, Duggar critics are sharing their concern about how her dad may be taking the news — specifically, their worry that Jim Bob will blame his daughter for the stillbirth happening in the first place.

Jill and Derick shared the heartbreaking news over the weekend.

Alongside a photo of themselves holding their baby girl, Jill and Derick shared that they had named her Isla Marie.

"Jill was 4 months pregnant (due in August) when we found out that our baby died in utero," they wrote in the caption. "From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn’t wait to meet our baby. Isla was much loved from the start, and her 3 big brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world."

Now, people are wondering how her family may have reacted.

In a post on Reddit, one person raised the topic, worried the family could blame Jill's stillbirth on speaking out against the family or the fact that she has been open about using birth control in the past.

"I hope I'm wrong. But I'm so mad and it's not even me and we don't even know if she's received comments like that," the person wrote.

Others shared the concern.

In the comments of the post, others spoke up, noting they had similar thoughts.

"Jill is definitely going to be blamed by her family, especially her parents, and it’s sick. They already believe that miscarriages are punishment for bad behavior and Jill? Well, she’s certainly not liberal or even far enough removed from the cult for our liking, but she IS too far removed for her parents’ liking, especially Jim Bob," one person wrote. "He’s 100% going to use this as a way to exert more control over the younger girls, using Jill as a 'cautionary' tale for what happens when you doubt their religion."

Another commenter added, "Well they blamed Michelle’s miscarriage on her choice to take birth control so I wouldn’t put it past them at all."

It wouldn't be the first time Jim Bob had commentary on Jill's personal life.

When Jill appeared on the Ask Dr. Julie Hanks podcast in November 2023, she said after she had a uterine rupture during the birth of her second son, Samuel, she was worried it wouldn't be safe for her to have more children.

Jim Bob had a surprising response, though. "My Dad pipes up. 'We don't really know do we now?' He's trying to control the situation," Jill said.

It must be a difficult time for Jill right now.

Hopefully, she and Derick are getting all the time they need to grieve such a heartbreaking loss privately — and without any unsupportive commentary from her family.

Our thoughts are with Jill, Derick, and their boys as they navigate this tough time.
