What to Know
If you’ve been following along with the Duggars’ rollercoaster of a month — and the discourse that has come along with it — you probably already know there’s been quite a bit of whiplash when it comes to how people are feeling about the former reality TV family. Following Joseph and Kendra Duggar‘s arrests less than two weeks ago, some family members have come out strong, condemning their brother for his actions. Fans and critics alike have been happy with the strong statements, but is everyone forgetting who the Duggars really are in the process?
The family’s response to what’s happening with Joseph and Kendra has been pretty surprising.

Earlier this month, both Joseph and his wife, Kendra, were arrested — in Joseph’s case, he landed behind bars after allegations that he molested a 9-year-old girl while on a family vacation in 2020, while Kendra turned herself in after the investigation into Joseph’s crimes led police to charge her (and Joseph) with child endangerment and false imprisonment involving a totally separate issue.
Since then, some of the Duggar siblings have spoken out, with Jason and his wife, Maddie, taking the strongest stance against Joseph’s alleged actions so far. This has earned them a surprising amount of credit from people who are typically very critical of the Duggars’ actions, but are people too quick to hand out compliments?
Now, the Duggars’ pro-Trump past is coming back to the spotlight.
Reminder: the Duggars are all MAGA.

In a post on a popular Duggar subreddit, one critic brought back all of the photo evidence of the family being staunch supporters of Donald Trump, from the time they mowed his name into their large front yard to Anna Duggar’s post on X about praying for the president.
The OP pointed out that there has been an increase in Duggar “fangirls” lately, praising those who have spoken out against Joseph and giving Jill props for dressing outside of her family’s super strict dress code, and urged everyone to look at the bigger picture.
“It’s a privilege that so many of you aren’t directly impacted by 45’s policies and that you can peacefully celebrate a girl from Arkansas deconstructing and wearing a tube top,” they wrote in their post. “But that’s not the reality for a lot of us.”
Are they really deserving of so much praise?
Commenters tended to agree with the OP’s point, with one writing, “They’re taught that they are chosen, good and righteous in the eyes of the lord, not how to actually be decent people with respect and empathy for others.”
Another Redditor added, “At the end of the day, all 78 Duggars suck (I’m including Amy, Deanna, all the grandkids and Tyler too). No posts about praying for the victims or condemning a brother’s despicable actions or a picture of them wearing non wholesome clothing will ever change that.”
The Duggars haven’t made any huge changes when it comes to their super conservative political beliefs. Maybe it will happen for some of them someday, but for now, it’s hard to blame anyone for continuing to be skeptical.
