20 Times Emily Blunt & John Krasinski Proved They’re a Perfect Pair

While we know that no couple is truly perfect, sometimes they certainly seem that way — at least from the outside. This is definitely the case with Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. When it comes to couple goals, these two set the bar pretty high. After 10 years of marriage and two kids (daughters Hazel and Violet), they continue to give us all the feels. They're just so cute together!

And though they've both spent years independently building successful Hollywood careers (Emily's starred in dozens of films, and John's parlayed his iconic role as Jim Halpert on the Office into several major gigs including the title character in Jack Ryan), they've recently been collaborating — and fans are loving it. They appeared together in the creepy 2018 apocalyptic thriller A Quiet Place (John also directed it), which won rave reviews from viewers.

Now, they're back with a follow-up: A Quiet Place Part II hit theaters on May 28, 2021, with Emily and John once again sharing the screen. And as they've made the publicity rounds to promote the movie — and dropped some adorable new details about their relationship along the way — fans have once again been struck by just how perfect they are as a couple.

But if you still need even more proof, here are 20 times when Emily and John made us all swoon with their sweet love story.

Love at First Sight

Emily told late-night TV host Seth Meyers in 2018 that it was basically love at first sight when she met John. "I was sitting with a mutual friend, and my friend goes, 'Oh my God! That's my friend John.' And that was it. He just stood there and made me laugh," she recalled, reported Elle.

Mutual Attraction

During a 2018 appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, John shared his own first impression of Emily. He said, "I wasn't really looking for a relationship — and then I met her, and I was so nervous and I was thinking, 'Oh God, I think I'm gonna fall in love with her.'"

Talking Shop — or Maybe Not

Before they began dating, John was apparently already a big fan of Emily's work — he even owned a magazine with her photo on the cover (which he hid when she would come over). "I remember being at my house and saying to her, 'So I just want to have this really honest conversation. I think you're one of the best act-' … I didn't even get out 'actress.' She went, 'No, no, no, no!' very loud. We didn't have that conversation again for a really long time, and it saved our relationship," he told Today.

Emily and John apparently have a smashing time whenever they attend the Critics' Choice Movie Awards. In 2013, Emily was seen laughing and sitting on her husband's lap at the event. And in 2015, after being announced the winner of the Best Action Movie Actress award, John crashed her acceptance speech and engulfed her in a huge hug. He was proud to show his love for all the world to see.

Teaming Up

The pair sparked rumors of a possible professional collaboration as early as 2016. When John posted this photo, he wrote, "So I'm casting this #LiveReadNY of Good Will Hunting, then ran into this #girlonthetrain and thought … yeah it's time to work together! October 7!!Livereadny.com "Howdaya like THEM apples?"

Side by Side

If you are wondering how the couple found the experience of working together, John tweeted this super sweet photo of them on-set, appearing to really be enjoying each other's company. And since they've continued to collaborate, it must have gone well.

It's a Metaphor

After John first saw the script for A Quiet Place, it was Emily who ultimately inspired him to do the movie. John said he remembered thinking, "If I could rewrite this to be a metaphor for parenthood instead of just a horror movie then I think we could do something really special." Later, Emily also encouraged John to direct it. "I thought, 'Yeah, maybe I should,'" he recalled.

The pair attended the premiere of A Quiet Place at South by Southwest in 2018, holding tightly to each other. We often see these two sharing a lot of PDA — especially on the red carpet — and we get heart eyes every time we see it.

They Get It

During a 2018 interview with Playboy, John really waxed poetic about how great their relationship is. He said (via E! News): "I think my wife gets me. Not just to sound adorable, but the truth is she gets me more than anyone else has ever gotten me." And what's better than really being seen and understood?

Emily's Biggest Fan

When Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon asked John in 2018 about working with Emily, he gushed: "I've always been the biggest fan of hers, but not until you're in the room when she does what she does do you know why she's so phenomenal. She is the most unbelievably talented person, powerful person, kindest person. She makes everyone around her better."

Obsession Revealed

During a 2018 episode of his talk show, Graham Norton asked John about the number of times he had seen the Devil Wears Prada. John replied, "I mean, give or take, 72." And with that, John revealed he's not simply a fan but a super fan of his wife's, just as obsessed with Emily's early films as her current ones.

The Feeling Is Mutual

Emily has also watched John's work over and over. During a 2016 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, she talked about how proud she was of his play, Dry Powder, saying: "He's really excellent in it. By the end, I'll have seen it four times, which I feel is very wifely."

The Best Dad

The pair is not shy about their opinions of one another as parents, either. Emily once marveled at John's skills as a dad. "He is the greatest dad," she gushed on Ellen, just three weeks after Hazel was born in 2014. "She [daughter Hazel] just loves him. She loves him."

Completely Committed

As parents, John and Emily are total team, and that just makes them an even cuter couple. Spoiler alert: Although John's character dies in A Quiet Place, he explained why he still wrote himself into the sequel. "That's what ego is," John said on Ellen. "It was one of those things where I wasn't really going to do a second [follow-up] — so it was a love letter to my kids, which looks insane now that you're watching that. But it was really important for me to continue the metaphor, and we actually start dealing with how this all started."

Making Sacrifices

In our minds, the perfect pair will compromise and make sacrifices for each other. John did just that when he was busy filming a movie but still frequently traveled to London to see Emily while she was on the set of Mary Poppins Returns. "I went to visit her all the time. I was shooting something else, but I went almost every weekend," John said of how much he missed her. (He also admitted to sobbing through the entire movie, he was so moved by Emily's incredible performance as the magical nanny.)

Better Together

Emily once described John as perfect. "He is my perfect man," she told ET in 2016. "He's funny and warm and bright and confident. He's a very emboldening person." That's high praise, especially because she said it after six years of marriage and two kids together!

Tears in His Eyes

The couple is so adorable when they share publicly how much they love and are impressed by each other. During a 2018 Today appearance, Emily recalled a time when John heard her sing during Into the Woods. Emily said: "[Director] Rob Marshall invited John into the sound booth. He then started up the 60-piece orchestra, and John cried. It was so sweet." We totally agree!

New Skills

The couple who selflessly does things for each other is definitely in it for the long haul. John admitted to Jimmy Kimmel in 2016 that he finally learned to cook — at the age of 36 — specifically for Emily: "I actually just started cooking. It started as a Mother's Day gift for Emily. Because she's from England, I said I was gonna do a roast."

A Pet Name

Emily and John both have a great sense of humor, and it's clear they love to make each other laugh. But they had us all laughing when they unveiled their official couple nickname, Krunt. In a video together, Emily explained: "Hi, I'm Emily Blunt and this is my husband, John Krasinski. But it's cool if you only know us by our celebrity couple name, Krunt." It does have a nice ring to it!

Do It Again?

If you're wondering if the pair will continue to work together and keep up the magic on screen, Emily revealed to Collider that John has a few ideas up his sleeve. "He has a whole arc of ideas that could work," she shared. "I think he just wanted to see how people responded to this one before he fully engaged his brain on the third one. But he has a couple of great ideas."
