15 Epic Royal Wedding Fails

Nobody ever said that being a royal would be easy. It may seem like everything is picture-perfect for the monarchs, but they've had their share of troubles. Take the royals' wedding days, for instance. Would it have been nice if they all went off without a hitch? Yes. But no wedding has ever been perfect — royalty or not.

Princess Diana's wedding had the most fails, which is hardly surprising given how that marriage turned out. But everyone from Queen Elizabeth to Kate Middleton to Meghan Markle experienced problems on their big day. But hey, that's just part of life, right? If you and your husband can make it through a wedding snafu (or a few snafus), you'll be starting your marriage off on the right foot.

Even when the fails are as epic as these.

The Queen's Tiara Broke

The morning of her wedding to Prince Philip, the then-Princess Elizabeth had a major snafu with her crown. According to Marie Claire, her hairdresser broke the iconic Fringe Tiara, and a jeweler had to fix it at the last minute. They were able to remedy the error quickly enough for her to still wear it on her big day.

Diana's Dress Got So Wrinkled

The princess' poofy '80s gown with its big sleeves and massive train was so cramped in the carriage that it got totally wrinkled on the way to the church. The crinkles have become part of the dress' iconic look now, but it must have been a big bummer on the actual day after all the work that went into it.

At 5 years old, Clementine Hambro was tapped to be in Diana's wedding as one of her little bridesmaids. Unfortunately, on the big day, Clementine took a bit of a tumble and began to cry. She later revealed that the princess comforted her by picking her up and asking, "Did you bump your bottom?" Always a compassionate one, that Diana.

Prince Charles Invited Camilla Parker Bowles

This couple really was doomed from the start. Charles invited his longtime love, Camilla Parker Bowles, to his wedding with Diana, kicking off a marriage that would be filled with cheating on both sides.

Reportedly, Diana was so upset at seeing Camilla in the crowd that she could harldy focus on anything else. "So walking down the aisle I spotted Camilla, pale grey, veiled pillbox hat, saw it all, her son Tom, standing on a chair. To this day you know — vivid memory," she told biographer Andrew Morton.

Diana Got Charles' Name Wrong

When it came time to say "I do," Diana accidentally agreed to marry the wrong man. She recited Charles' name incorrectly, calling him Philip Charles Arthur George instead of his actual name: Charles Philip Arthur George. Maybe the royals should stop giving their children so many monikers. It's an easy mistake.

Charles Also Made a Mistake in His Vows

We can't let Diana have all the wedding day mistake blame. During his own vows, Charles also flubbed his words. He promised to give Diana "thy goods" instead of "my worldly goods." It would be a funny mix-up if this marriage didn't end in so much tragedy. It's hard to laugh at anything surrounding it.

Charles Forgot To Kiss the Bride

During their actual nuptials,Charles forgot to kiss Diana at the end of their vows. The couple tried to make up for it by smooching on the Buckingham Palace balcony (and kicking off a new royal trend), but this was surely a sign of troubled times ahead, right? What allegedly madly in love husband forgets to kiss his bride?

Princess Nathalie of Denmark had to delay her 2011 wedding in a few minutes when she realized that she'd forgotten to bring her bouquet to the church. Fortunately, someone was able to go back for the flowers, and the rest of her big day went off without a hitch. If you have to have a wedding snafu, those that are easily resolved are the best to have.

William Was Exhausted at His Wedding

Apparently, the loud royal fans outside William's room kept him up the night before his wedding. "They were singing and cheering all night long, so the excitement of that, the nervousness of me and everyone singing — I slept for about half an hour," he said. Good thing the wedding was recorded for him to watch later. He probably doesn't remember any of it.

And a Horse Got Loose

During William and Kate's carriage procession following the wedding, one of the horses got loose from its rider and charged ahead. Fortunately no one was hurt or anything, but it had to be a briefly scary moment for the couple to see a horse running past them with no rider to control it.

Their Balcony Kiss Was Ruined

William and Kate looked so lovely on their wedding day, and their Buckingham Palace balcony kiss was iconic — for all the wrong reasons. One of their bridesmaids, little Grace van Cutsem, made such an ugly face during the big moment. She was clearly over her responsibilities for the day, but she chose a pretty bad time to express that.

Camilla Seemingly Laughed During Meghan & Harry's Wedding

Camilla's fit of giggles during the bishop's speech at Meghan and Harry's wedding even apparently annoyed Kate Middleton. She was spotted giving the Duchess of Cornwall serious side-eye, perhaps to subtly tell her to knock it off. Come on, Camilla. You already ruined Diana's wedding — did you need to make a mini scene at Harry's too?

Meghan's Dad Was Still in the Program

At nearly the last minute, Meghan Markle's dad was unable to attend his daughter's wedding — so Prince Charles walked her down the aisle instead. But the switch-up happened so late in the game that the official wedding programs still listed Thomas Markle as the one accompanying Meghan.

Eugenie's Wedding Was So Windy

Poor Princess Eugenie got married on, like, the windiest day in Britain. The gusts were so bad that Kate Middleton very nearly had a disastrous wardrobe malfunction. Fortunately, she caught her skirt from flying up just in time. Even the Queen struggled in the weather to keep her hat in place.

Her Bridesmaids Tripped

The wind also seems to be partially to blame for Eugenie's little bridesmaids and page boys tripping on their way into the church. Their tiny bodies simply weren't a match for the billowing breezes. Princess Charlotte and Prince George were among those who fell, but thankfully, everyone was uninjured.
