‘Euphoria’ Star Chloe Cherry Has Been Busted for Allegedly Shoplifting a $28 Top

Actress Chloe Cherry may have found herself in legal trouble after a mishap during a recent shopping spree. The Euphoria star stands charged with shoplifting after walking out of a boutique without paying for a $28 blouse. Given the statement from her agent, this sounds more like a mistake than a crime, but we'll let you be the judge.

The HBO star is now facing misdemeanor charges.

According to TMZ, Chloe got into trouble after a December shopping trip in her hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, went awry. Sources close to the case say Chloe was shopping at a store called Building Character when she found the $28 blouse and went to the dressing room to try it on.

After she left the dressing room, Chloe failed to pay for the top.

Although the actress paid for her other goodies using a credit card, the store claims that the $28 frock was not among them.

Instead, she left the building without paying, which is when law enforcement was apparently called to the scene.

They say that Chloe admitted to taking the top and gave it back to one of the officers involved in the call.

This is where Chloe's rep says things may not be what they seem.

Speaking to TMZ, a representative of Chloe's denies any wrongdoing.

"In December, there was confusion over a blouse that wasn't properly charged to my client's credit card," the person explained. "In no way did she 'admit' to taking the blouse, since that was not the case. This story seems to be more about a local store trading on a celebrity's name more than anything else."

Chloe wouldn't be the first famous face to get caught up in a shoplifting case.

Everyone's favorite Stranger Things mom Winona Ryder famously got busted for trying to leave a store without paying for thousands of dollars worth of merch back in 2001.

Winona's Saks Fifth Avenue shopping spree landed her in some pretty hot water, which resulted in felony charges, community service, and fines. (After she paid up and did her time, the charges were eventually dropped to misdemeanors.)

We hope this was just an honest mistake.

Given the success of Euphoria, we can't imagine that the star is hurting for money. We tend to believe that maybe she was trying to quickly get in and out of the store without getting noticed and maybe forgot she was holding another top when it came time to pay up.

Whatever the reason she walked out the door without paying, we're glad that the shop got its merchandise back. Hopefully this can all get sorted out quickly and without too much fuss for everyone involved.
