Britney Spears and Sam Asghari have been inseparable for years. Though Brit mostly uses her Instagram feed to post videos of herself dancing or pictures she finds and relates to on the internet, she also shows off her longtime boyfriend. And now that her conservatorship battle may finally be coming to an end, it seems like the next part of her life is just beginning. In September 2021, Sam proposed to Britney, and now the couple is engaged.
But just who is the man planning on spending the rest of his life with one of the most famous women in the world? Not just anyone is good enough for Britney Spears, after all. And with everything she's been through, she deserves a seriously awesome person by her side.
Here's everything you need to know about Sam Asghari — the actor, model, and personal trainer who has stolen Britney's heart.
He's a Personal Trainer
Don't worry, it doesn't seem like Sam is just riding on Britney's coattails. He actually has an impressive career of his own. He's a personal trainer and has his own company, Asghari Fitness. His online training program is pretty affordable, too — it starts at just $9 a week, according to his website.
He's Also an Actor & Model
When Sam isn't hitting the gym, he's working on his career in the entertainment industry. Right now, he plays Giancarlo in Showtime's Black Monday, and has also appeared in guest starring roles on shows including NCIS, The Family Business, and Hacks.
He Was Born in Iran
According to his interview with Men's Health in 2018, he was born in Tehran. His dad eventually moved to Los Angeles, and later Sam joined him, although the rest of his family stayed behind. He worked jobs at Best Buy and Gold's Gym while he attended college, eventually becoming a personal trainer.
He's Motivated by His Family's Sacrifices
Knowing what his parents had to give up for him to come to the US and have the opportunities he had as a teenager, Sam told the magazine it makes him more determined to succeed.
"When great things happen to me, it only motivates me and puts me in a position where I have to work even harder," he said. "I think about how far my family came, and everything they sacrificed for me to be here, so I never take anything for granted."
He Met Britney While Appearing in One of Her Music Videos
Sam and Britney first met when he was in her video for "Slumber Party," which came out in 2016. As Britney explained during a 2017 radio interview, they got to talking while on the set together, and he gave her his number, which she actually ended up using later.
"[I said,] 'We should go to sushi one day … yeah, yeah, yeah, let's just do this and let's do this,' and he goes, 'Okay, I'll give you my number after the [shoot].' So it wasn't even like a serious thing; it was just one of those things where we were having a conversation to get through the experience, you know?" she said, reported People.
Their Relationship Has Been Public Since Early 2017
Sam and Britney began sharing photos together on Instagram in the early months of 2017, taking their relationship public for the first time. This means that they were dating for at least four years before they got engaged — plenty of time to get to know each other.
He's Not Jamie Spears' Biggest Fan
While Britney's conservatorship battle waged on, Sam took to his Instagram Story to let it be known that he didn't approve of the way Britney's father Jamie treated her.
"Now it's important for people to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles our way," he wrote in February 2021. "In my opinion, Jamie is a total d—. I won't be going into details because I've always respected our privacy but at the same time I didn't come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom."
He's a Member of the Free Britney Movement
Around the time that Britney shared her emotional testimony in court over the summer, Sam shared a photo of himself wearing a Free Britney T-shirt in support of his girlfriend (now fiancée). It's been clear from the start that he has always had her back.
He Popped the Question in September 2021
After dating for such a long time, Britney was obviously excited to share with fans that she and Sam had gotten engaged. She posted a video showing off her sparkly 4-carat ring (as Sam grinned in the background), writing, "I can't f—ing believe it!" in her caption.
He Just Wants Her To Be Happy
In a sweet quote from his most recent interview with Men's Health in the magazine's October 2021 issue, Sam admitted that Britney's happiness is a priority to him.
"I just want her to be happy. If something makes her happy, I'll do it. I'm not going to argue. What's that saying? 'Happy wife, happy life,'" he said.
