This Awkward Usher Moment With a Fan Has the Internet Divided & Confused

There is, apparently, a gimmick at Usher and Chris Brown‘s tour where the singers pull audience members on the stage during one of their respective performances. The idea is to give the seemingly unsuspecting women a Magic Mike sort of moment. At least, that seems to the the general idea. So when one woman appeared to be the very opposite of into her serenade and lap dance from Usher, the footage went viral.

In the video, which was shared across social media platforms, including on TikTok, the woman, later identified as Gabrielle Cheyenne looks stiff as Usher sings to her and presses his body closer to her. She sits on the prop bed used for this part of the concert, but Gabrielle isn’t into it. Like, at all. Eventually, Usher is uncomfortable too and motions for someone to escort Gabrielle off the stage.

In the video, Gabrielle smiles at Usher and makes eye contact with him as he sings to her and gets closer to her. But in a moment when, it seems, she is supposed to lean back in the prop bed and get into character, so to speak, Gabrielle remains pretty stiff.

Her mannerisms, or lack thereof, can really only be described as Barbie-like. Her reaction to Usher might have something to do with who he isn’t, though. She spoke with TMZ and revealed that her and her mom’s seats were unexpectedly upgraded to the VIP section. But, she added, she wouldn’t have accepted the upgrade if she had known she would be singled out by Usher instead of Chris Brown.

“Of course, you’re getting to go up on-stage, why would I decline that?” She told the outlet. She then admits, “I went to the concert for Chris Brown. It’s nothing against Usher or anything like that, but I’m more of a Chris Brown fan than I am of Usher.”

Some think that she knew what she was getting into.

Under a TikTok about the concert clip and Gabrielle’s roundabout rejection of Usher’s sexy dance on-stage, users went back and forth about boundaries and what Gabrielle should and should not have expected to happen. Some people were in agreement that she had every right to turn down the dance. Others claimed that she made a bold move that could have been done differently.

“Shoutout to her. I love a woman who has integrity and respect for herself,” one user commented.

Another added, “I absolutely love her for this. I know he embarrassed as hell.”

However, someone else wrote, “She was pulled on the stage for Usher. She knew what type of performance he was gonna put on. If she didn’t want Usher, then decline to sit there or walk away when you see who it is, don’t sit there looking uncomfortable and ruin part of his show.”

She later shared her side of things on social media.

Gabrielle went live on Facebook after the Usher concert clip went viral. During her livestream, she shared how she came to have the VIP seats. She also spoke against users who tried to speak on her specific experience without being in her shoes at that moment.

“People are gonna troll regardless,” she said. She also revealed that users on social media took an old maternity photo she once posted and used it to share without her consent. Gabrielle added, “Just because somebody gets up there on-stage for an opportunity or whatever else, that don’t mean that somebody has to be bashed for deciding to get on-stage.
