Gloria Gaynor is a music legend. Bringing us mega hits like "I Will Survive" and "Never Can Say Goodbye," she burst onto the scene in the '70s and solidified herself as a disco queen. She was one of the most popular singers of the decade and she is still killing the music game today. (She won two 2020 Grammy Awards, though this time for gospel tunes). Given all of her talent and success, it's no surprise that she lives in a swanky mansion in New Jersey — and it's got her personal touch all over it.
According to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, Gloria is looking to relocate and has listed her ultra-modern home in the town of Green Brook for nearly $1.25 million. Spanning 5,318 square feet, the two-story stucco residence boasts some incredible features and is made for entertaining in style.
Gloria helped design much of the interior, including a killer basement set-up featuring a 12-seat home theater, rec room, gym, and game room. The home also boasts a pool that's fully enclosed by a glass atrium, making it usable year-round, even in winter.
The grounds are just as beautiful. The home sits on an acre and backs onto the Warrenbrook Golf Course. The beautifully landscaped yard is outfitted with a gazebo, a large deck for parties, and mature trees offering plenty of shade and privacy. Gloria has called this place home since 1999, but according to The New York Times, she is building a new house in Englewood Cliffs that will allow her to be closer to her work projects in New York City. But before she goes, fans now have a chance to take a peek inside her home of 22 years and see just how a disco queen lives.
The Exterior
Gloria's house was built in 1988 and is located on a cul-de-sac near the 52-acre Washington Rock State Park. According to The New York Times, Gloria has enjoyed hosting many gatherings here over the years — and judging by the photos, this house is perfectly designed for entertaining. "I used to have a Fourth of July party, then changed it to a Christmas party, then a birthday party," she told the outlet. "Outside I built a stage in front of the pool and people danced. Inside people watched football on TV or were shooting pool and listening to the jukebox."
The Large Foyer
This is the room that first welcomes guests upon their arrival. It's definitely impressive, with the sleek black marble floor and the floor-to-ceiling windows, which let in an abundance of natural light. There is something incredible about having a foyer that's large enough to filter groups of people into the home without feeling crowded and confined.
The Main Room
This room screams comfort but in the best way possible. There's plush carpet, a cozy fireplace in the center of the room, and an expanse of windows that flood the room with light and reveal the lush grounds surrounding the home. We imagine this space is ideal for hosting or just unwinding after a long day at work.
The Dining Room
We love the contrast of the dark floor and the bright white walls in this dining space. And with those impressively large windows, we're sure Gloria enjoys her morning coffee or breakfast at the table, while savoring the views from outside as the seasons change.
A Classy TV Room
This lounge space, located just off the master bedroom, is ideal for casual gatherings or simply enjoying a little reading or TV time. The glass block windows (definitely an '80s signature) give the space plenty of light while providing much-needed privacy. We love the all-white color scheme — it allows Gloria's colorful artwork to really stand out on the walls. And the small fireplace adds a cozy touch.
A Combined Kitchen & Family Room
An open-concept layout combines the kitchen and family room into one large space, creating a great set-up for family time or hosting friends. The kitchen features a breakfast bar, granite countertops, and a large pantry. Three sets of French doors open onto a stone patio, offering convenient access to even more entertaining space in warm weather.
An Enclosed Pool
We've seen some super impressive pools in celebrity homes, but many stars live in warm climates like Southern California, where they can enjoy the water and sun year-round. But since Gloria is based in New Jersey, where the weather isn't always so mild, she opted to enclose her pool in a glass atrium, allowing her to swim even in the dead of winter. She's lucky to have a little slice of summer living even on the coldest days.
A Garden Area
A charming gazebo is one of the highlights of the home's sprawling grounds. It's bordered by manicured garden beds and a small waterfall. The grounds are filled with towering trees that offer shade and privacy. Gloria even installed wrought-iron benches under several of them, creating a perfect spot for reading a good book or just enjoying the peaceful nature setting.
The Master Bedroom
The way Gloria has decorated and styled her home, we can tell she loves the space to be full of light, and she achieves this in several ways. The walls are painted a beautiful white, and most of the furniture is in calming neutral shades. Add to that the glass block windows she uses to separate spaces like the main bedroom and the en suite, and there's all the brightness in the world here.
A Large Main Bathroom
Mansions aren't like regular homes — we know that already. But when we get a peek at how celebrities have come to decorate their bathrooms, we're still shocked. For celebs like Gloria, a bathroom is a full-on spa and relaxation space. Just look at the size of that tub!
An Epic Basement
What's success without being able to enjoy it with friends? That's what makes us love this basement in Gloria's home. It's a dream hangout space, complete with a bar and all the comfy seating you'd ever need. There's enough room in here to host several friends and then some. And of course, music-loving Gloria has a jukebox to keep the party going.
A Bright Office Space
Stars make their money from both their talents and business skills, so of course Gloria has a room in her home dedicated to getting her work done. There's plenty of space in here, so she doesn't have clutter impeding her creative process. And the block windows definitely limit the distractions from outdoors, creating the ideal place for new songs to be written.
Outdoor Living
New Jersey doesn't have perfect temperatures all year, but it's nice to be outside when the sun is shining. Here, there's enough room to have several tables to sit and dine at, whether for a casual family breakfast al fresco or an intimate dinner party with guests. And the beautiful scenery only adds to the ambience.
A Theater Room
Most of us don't have a theater room in our house, but Gloria isn't most people. So in the basement of her mansion, she also has this viewing room outfitted with three rows of leather recliners. Gloria and her guests can watch their favorite movie or binge the latest Netflix hit in the comfort of her home — and these cozy chairs.
The Walk-In Closet
When it comes to mansions, we have an expectation that there will be extravagant closets, and this home doesn't disappoint. Each of the five bedrooms in the house has its own walk-in closet, with enough room to keep clothes and accessories well-organized. We can only imagine Gloria took full advantage of the storage to house all of the iconic looks from her disco days.
