Fans Accuse Grimes of ‘Closing Her Eyes to Evil’ as Ex Elon Musk Takes Their Son X to White House

Grimes has grown tired of being asked to publicly respond to her ex’s behavior. Amid allegations that Elon Musk is trying to take over the US government, however, her responses have left some fans wanting more. The Canadian musician, 36, is no longer romantically involved with Elon, 53, but they share three children. Recently, one of their kids, 4-year-old X Æ A-Xii, joined Elon and President Donald Trump at the White House. Grimes didn’t seem to know about this until a fan reached out to her on her ex-boyfriend’s social media platform, also called X.

A fan told Grimes that her son X seemed very ‘polite’ during his White House visit.

On February 11, Elon took his son X to a White House Oval Office press conference. Grimes did not seem to approve of this – or even know about it. On X, formerly Twitter, a fan reached out to Grimes and said X was “so cute” during the press conference. “Lil X was very polite today! You raised him well,” the fan wrote.

Even though Grimes was happy that her son seemed generally well-behaved, she clearly didn’t think the 4-year-old should’ve been in that situation. “He should not be in public like this,” she wrote in response to the fan. “I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.”

Some fans empathized with Grimes and accused Elon of using their son as a ‘prop.’

To some Grimes fans, X’s presence at the White House wasn’t an issue. But critics questioned Elon’s motive and said his 4-year-old son “should not be used as a political prop.”

“Is there anything you can do?” one person wrote to Grimes. “It is quite disturbing that he uses X in that way.” The commenter added that it’s probably “not good for the kid to be in the middle of all this chaos.”

Amid Elon’s controversial involvement in politics, fans have criticized Grimes for not speaking up.

Elon is leading the Department of Government Efficiency, an agency created by Trump. He was never elected and is a “special government employee.” During the press conference, the billionaire denied plotting a “hostile takeover” of the government.

Grimes’ fans have called for her to speak out against her controversial ex, but some of her responses have fallen short of fans’ expectations. One fan suggested that “closing your eyes to the evil of the world and not attacking it forthright is exactly how it grows in power.”

In response, Grimes wrote, “Why do u think I close my eyes to evil? I simply have no desire to engage in online discourse that will likely lead to court and harm to the stability of my children’s lives.” She added that she is “taking note of the fear and distress” and acknowledged she has “a responsibility in some sense to answer to it.”

After Inauguration Day, fans asked Grimes to condemn her ex’s actions.

“Hey Grimes, how do you feel about the father of your children sieg heiling on national tv today?” one person wrote. At the time, Grimes said she understood her fans’ concerns, but also wrote, “I am not him.” She said she had not been online and was “only just learning about this controversy now.”

“I will not make a statement every time he does something,” she wrote, referring to her ex. “I can only send love back into a world that is hurting.”

Still, fans urged her to at least denounce Nazism. “I’m happy to denounce Nazi-ism – and the far alt right,” Grimes responded at the time. “Would that help clear things up?”
