Gwyneth Paltrow Fans Think She Subtly Shaded Meghan Markle in New Cooking Video

Some celebrities generally don’t overlap. Gwyneth Paltrow is known for her luxury wellness brand Goop and recently returned to acting in Marty Supreme. Meanwhile, Meghan Markle is a former Suits star, married to Prince Harry, and just launched a lifestyle brand, As Ever. But Gwyneth Paltrow fans are convinced she shaded Meghan in a new cooking video.

For context, Meghan’s Netflix series With Love, Meghan premiered in March. The Duchess of Sussex shares cooking, gardening and hosting tips on the show. Unfortunately, it’s been met with intense criticism – most recently by Gwyneth, some fans speculated.

In late March, Gwyneth posted a cooking video.

On March 22, 2025, the 52-year-old mom of two took to Instagram with a new video. The clip showed Paltrow in pajamas and no makeup preparing a meal in her kitchen.

“My cleaner take on a classic breakfast: gluten-free buttermilk biscuits, not-so-perfectly cooked over-easy eggs, and crispy bacon #boyfriendbreakfast,” she captioned the update.

Some Gwyneth Paltrow fans are convinced she shaded Meghan.

In the comments, one of Gwyneth’s Instagram followers pointed out her use of Natalie Cole’s track “This Will Be.”

“Lol isn’t it this the song they keep using in the Meghan Markle promo?” the person wrote.

To that, another replied, “Yep 😂 love it .. Gwyneth is so genuine what a breath of fresh air compared to Markle.”

A different Instagram user shared, “And being as relatable as she can be, in her pj’s, hair not styled, no make up sipping coffee. No one praising her. Just her phone filming. Simple and easy.”

Someone else echoed, “Love this. No fake house, fake kitchen, fake hair extensions, fake friends just your beautiful true self. Such a breath of fresh air.”

Meghan explained why she didn’t film the Netflix show at her home.

In a March 3 People article, Markle explained why she opted out of filming the Netflix show at her home.

“I wanted to protect that safe haven,” she told the magazine. “We’re a close-knit family, and I love those moments – putting Lili down for a nap, having lunch together, having sacred time together at the end of the day. Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family, and with a crew of 80-plus people, that’s a lot of people to have in your house!”

Gwyneth recently shared rare comments on Meghan.

Gwyneth’s perceived “shade” came after she made rare comments about Meghan.

“Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try,” she said in her Vanity Fair April 2025 cover story, adding that she hadn’t seen the trailer With Love, Meghan.

“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes. I think there’s always more than enough to go around,” she shared.

She also addressed media backlash against the Duchess of Sussex.

During her sit-down with People, Gwyneth acknowledged the constant barrage of hate aimed at Meghan and her family.

“[When] there’s noise about certain women in the culture, I do have, always, a strong instinct to stand up for them,” Gwyneth explained.

As her mother, Blythe Danner, told her, “Another woman is never your competition. … What is right for you will find you.”
