Normally we'd say that a courtroom drama is no laughing matter, but that's not the case for the testimony being delivered by Gwyneth Paltrow. The actress is taking part in a civil suit filed by a former doctor over a 2016 incident that has gotten a lot of attention on Twitter, including from funny lady Busy Philipps.

Gwyneth is being sued by retired doctor Terry Sanderson.
Terry claims in his suit that Gwyneth skied into him, "causing a brain injury [and] four broken ribs" during a 2016 family getaway.
Gwyneth countersued him a month after his suit was filed, saying that the incident actually went the other way around, with the retired optometrist being the cause of the collision.
The testimony went viral after Gwyneth made an offhand comment about skiing.
When asked whether Gwyneth experienced any losses as a result of the crash, the Iron Man star confirmed that she had, saying, "I lost a half-day of skiing."
The clip instantly went viral, with many people mocking Gwyneth's response.
"This entire Gwyneth Paltrow ski trial was written by Mike White," one person tweeted in a nod to The White Lotus.
People posted jokes about Gwyneth online.
Twitter users couldn't help but troll Gwyneth over the response.
"I need to find a way of making 'well, I lost half a day of skiing' into a Halloween costume this year," tweeted one person.
"Adding 'well I lost half a day of skiing' to my lexicon for any minor inconvenience," another wrote.
A third person took another approach to the bit. "If anyone finds half a day of skiing, I think I know who lost it," the person posted.
Even celebrities got in on the fun.
Busy shared an unsmiling photo of herself sitting next to a friend on Instagram. The pair appeared to be toasting to the camera. "Well, we lost a half-day of skiing," Busy captioned the snap.
The comment section was filled with variations of the same joke, with one person hilariously writing, "If you, too, lost a half day of skiing, you may qualify for legal representation."

The jokes don't take away from the seriousness of the accident.
Both Gwyneth and Terry seemed to have been pretty injured in the collision. Fortunately, it appears that they both recovered and were able to return to their normal activities, even though Terry does claim to have sustained a brain injury.
The civil trial is expected to last eight days.
