Gypsy-Rose Blanchard Slammed for Overbearing Mom Habits in Her Home

There’s nothing wrong with having a specific way that you do things as a new mom. And even after the newborn stage has worn off, there’s also nothing wrong with having certain routines and reminders in your home. But when Gypsy-Rose Blanchard shared a YouTube video with her rules and reminders in her home regarding her daughter Aurora and boyfriend Ken Urker, let’s just say that users on TikTok were, well, irked.

They were quick to point out how overbearing they believe Gypsy is. One even commented on a video that was shared of her video that she is “giving her mom vibes.” This is in reference to Gypsy’s late mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, whose Munchausen syndrome by proxy with Gypsy led to Gypsy’s relationship with a man who killed Dee Dee. Now, some worry that Gypsy is being overprotective of her daughter but in a different way than her mom was.

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard shared instructions for her baby in her home.

In Gypsy’s video on YouTube, she explains why there are signs posted around her home with lists or reminders. Apparently, her followers and those who are just plain curious about Gypsy, post-prison, have asked questions about them. In the caption of her YouTube vlog, Gypsy explained why she has so many signs for other people and even for Ken, who is her boyfriend and her daughter’s father.

“I post reminders like ‘wash your hands’ because you’re protecting your newborn,” she wrote. “Babies like Aurora have developing immune systems, so even a simple cold brought in by a visitor could become serious. These signs help reduce the risk without needing to repeat yourself constantly.”

Underneath that, she added some context to her signs about routines for Ken. “Ken may forget things like turning off the lights or taking out the trash,” she wrote. “Signs and reminders help nudge his memory without creating friction. This is especially important now that we both are likely more sleep-deprived and distracted.”

People are confused by the reminders for Ken.

While her signs that remind visitors and extended family members to wash their hands and practice safe hygiene around her baby are understandable, it’s the messages for Ken that people are confused about. And, to be fair, others are a little concerned that her concern about Aurora is a little much already and it has reminded some of Gypsy’s mother’s protective attitude toward her.

The vlog on YouTube has the comments turned off, but elsewhere on social media, when other people shared clips of the vlog, users commented to share their thoughts on Gypsy’s instructions and what some believe to be her overbearing habits as a mom.

“Oh God her mom had a chart in the movie with a schedule,” one person commented on a TikTok with clips from Gypsy’s vlog.

Another user wrote, “It’s over the top, controlling, what happens if they don’t obey, [and] just how often are other people babysitting her?”

Someone else joked, “I’m sure Ken loves the signs.”

Others came to Gypsy’s defense because she essentially grew into adulthood in prison, where there are signs to remind you about everything. But mostly, people are ready with their pitchforks and criticisms over Gypsy’s decisions.
