During a candid interview with Women's Health, Hayden Panettiere revealed that she had a breast reduction after struggling with her body image following her daughter's 2014 birth. And that's not the only personal topic she's been discussing publicly in recent days, either.
Hayden shared how she needed help remembering who she was before getting pregnant.
The mother of one described feeling like she had to do something major to feel like herself again.
"My body still didn't feel like it belonged to me," Hayden said of her struggles with postpartum depression after giving birth to her daughter Kaya, who now lives with her ex-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko.
Hayden supports women making the changes that are most meaningful to them.
"I don't think there's anything wrong with somebody who wants to tweak something if it makes them feel more confident," she explained of her decision. "That's all I have to say about it. My confidence is back."
Hayden has been open about her postpartum struggles, some of which she has recently blamed for her dependance on drugs and alcohol.
Therapy and acting have helped Hayden feel more like herself.
"In therapy, I kept wanting to go back to the beginning of the period of time where I was really happy and healthy," she continued in her interview, talking about picking back up in her role of Kirby Reed in the Scream franchise.
"She has that human trauma, and it's changed her," Hayden confessed. "That's something I can obviously relate to."
Hayden's faced more than a few challenges recently.
Tragedy recently struck the Panettiere family when Hayden's younger brother unexpectedly died in February. The bereaved sister opened up about his death in a tearful interview on Good Morning America, describing how her brother is still "right here with me" even in death.
Jansen, 28, died on February 19 from an enlarged heart, according to Page Six.
Hayden seems to have turned her life around.
Before making a dramatic attempt at getting her life and career back on track, Hayden was mostly in the news because of her violent boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, but fortunately, it sounds like that relationship is in the past now.
In March 2022 the pair made headlines after getting caught up in a drunken bar brawl. We're so happy to see Hayden taking control of her life and making healthy changes that she can be proud of.
