Hayden Panettiere’s Ex Claims Her Jewelry Was Pawned After Her Death & He’s Fighting To Recover It

Hayden Panettiere’s unexpected death in August has already been ruled an accidental overdose, but her ex-fiancé seems to think something shady is going on behind the scenes. When Wladimir Klitschko filed for authority over Hayden’s estate on behalf of their daughter, Kaya, who is a minor (and her mom’s only heir), he made a lot of alarming accusations about Hayden’s belongings possibly being destroyed, along with emails she sent before her death.

They had been split up for eight years before she died — what could possibly be going on that he just found out about? And after seeing what happened with Hayden’s jewelry this week, it really does seem like he’s telling the truth.

Wladimir seems to think that if he doesn’t step in, anything his daughter would inherit from her mother is at risk.

In September, Wladimir filed to be appointed as a representative of Hayden’s estate in the interest of protecting what now belongs to Kaya from being “lost, damaged or dissipated.” As Rolling Stone reported, Wladimir mentioned several things he is concerned about in the filing, and claimed people outside of her family “accessed and destroyed Hayden’s emails.”

“Additionally, petitioner has been informed that certain items of personal property belonging to Hayden, including jewelry, have disappeared or remain unaccounted for,” said the filing.

According to Wladimir, before Hayden died, he helped her hire private security for her home because she was worried that someone had “gained unauthorized access” to her home, making it all the more important that this matter is taken care of quickly.

“It is expected that the individual will continue to try and misappropriate property belonging to Hayden’s estate,” said Wladimir’s filing. “Given the high publicity of Hayden’s estate, a personal representative needs to be appointed immediately to safeguard and protect Hayden’s home and contents.”

Some of her jewelry may have already been sold to a pawn shop.

In a new filing, Wladimir added more concerning information: He said that he was “informed and believes that a non-family member previously connected to Hayden sold certain items belonging to Hayden, believed to include jewelry, to a pawn shop,” per court documents obtained by People.

He said that the pawn shop will not release the jewelry to him “without being contacted by law enforcement,” so he needs the police to take action.

He’s taking the situation so seriously that he even paid off Hayden’s outstanding tax debt.

The latest update on the situation comes from TMZ on Wednesday. Since Hayden’s income tax bill is due on October 15, Wladimir is putting up the money out of his own account to cover her balance to show how serious and dedicated he is to the way her estate is being handled.

He is asking that the estate reimburse him for the $30,000 bill when the money is available.
