Rory Feek’s Estranged Daughters Accuses Him of Exploiting Indiana During Medical Emergency

Country singer Rory Feek is still estranged from his oldest daughters, Heidi and Hopie Feek, but they haven’t stopped fighting for their younger sister, 12-year-old Indiana. After Rory shared an update about Indiana’s health online, Heidi has accused Rory of exploiting Indiana in a scathing social media post, revealing that she only found out about her sister’s hospitalization because he shared all the details in a Substack post.

Indiana recently underwent open heart surgery.

Rory shared his youngest daughter, Indiana, who has down syndrome, with his late wife Joey Feek, who died in March 2016 after she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Since then, Rory has remarried and he and his current wife have been raising Indiana, and he has been sharing the details about his family life frequently on his Substack.

Last month, he wrote that Indiana had undergone heart surgery and since then, she’s been at home and recovering. But in one of his newest Substack posts, Rory revealed that Indiana was rushed to the hospital after they “thought we had lost her.”

Indy was life flighted to a different hospital, where she was taken into surgery to drain fluid around her heart, and though she’s expected to make a full recovery, Rory said she’s going to be in the hospital for a while.

Heidi accused Rory of profiting from sharing Indiana’s health information.

In a video that she shared on her Instagram Stories (which has since expired), Heidi said it wasn’t right for her father to be sharing photos of Indy in her “vulnerable moments” without her consent.

“Yesterday my father posted a Substack post where he detailed how she essentially almost died, according to him,” she said, via Us Weekly. “And while I’m glad that she’s doing better and that she’s okay, according to him in that Substack post, I am upset that I found out on Instagram. I am still upset because of the ongoing exploitation of my little sister on his monetized Substack account.”

She was also angry that Rory used the post to promote his new song, adding that it “all makes me absolutely sick to my stomach.”

Hopie shared her own response to Rory’s post.

Hopie shared a similar statement to her own Instagram, writing, “My beautiful 12 year old sister was being life flighted to Austin due to complications after her heart surgery…which somehow was the pristine time to stop and take photos! I see Indy scared and hurt surrounded by strangers being photographed from afar by a parent.”

Heidi and Hopie have been outspoken about their feud with Rory for years now, and the sisters have also opened a GoFundMe fundraiser to raise money for the legal fight to keep Indy safe after a group called Homestead Heritage sued them for defamation. Previously, Heidi accused the organization of child abuse, claiming that her father is a part of their Waco branch.
