Even our favorite celebrities will occasionally have an off-day, and when that time came for Hilary Swank, the whole world found out about it. As one mom recently shared online, she ran into Hilary while at the airport, en route to her kids’ Make-a-Wish trip, where the 51-year-old actress snapped at her.
After the story was out there, she now says that Hilary has reached out to apologize to her for the incident, but is that apology really enough?
The mom, Jada Bafus, ran into Hilary at LAX and had a pretty unpleasant reaction with her.
In a post that has appeared to be removed from Instagram, Jada detailed the incident, which took place last week.
“Last Monday at @flylaxairport I was trying to find my son during his @makeawishamerica trip to @disneyland when @hilaryswank turned around and snapped at me, ‘You got what you needed? Get what you came for? Enjoy that picture.’ Ma’am… I wasn’t taking a picture of you. I was trying to find my 2 terminally ill boys at baggage claim,” she wrote.
Jada added, “But thanks for poking at a stressed mom on her kid’s Make-a-Wish trip. Iconic timing since she lived here in Spokane long ago! So random!”
Jada was taking her family on a Make-a-Wish trip to Disneyland.
Jada, who was a fan of Hilary and her work, shared more of her story in an interview with the Daily Mail, where she said she took her phone out at baggage claim “because I got distracted and trying to find my Make-A-Wish kids and my husband.”
After their exchange, Jada said that Hilary “stormed off a little bit.”
“It just hurt my feelings because I was starting my son’s Make-A-Wish trip, which she wouldn’t have known, but just one of those situations where it was one of my first encounters with a celebrity so I thought it was a little comical,” she said. “We just don’t know what others are going through and I was just a stressed mom trying to navigate LAX.“
Hilary has reached out to apologize after Jada took her story public.
Jada’s sons, 7-year-old Mason and 4-year-old Jack, have both been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which is terminal. She often documents the family’s journey on Instagram, where she originally posted about her interaction with Hilary.
After she was made aware of what was really going on in that moment, Hilary did reach out to Jada to apologize, saying she was worried someone was trying to photograph her toddlers, Aya and Ohm.
“I did not expect Hilary Swank to directly talk to me,” Jada told the Daily Mail. “It was just like a ‘Woah, I was taken aback.’”
It’s a wild story, but good that Hilary reached out and took responsibility. Like we said before, we all have bad days… celebrities included.
