There appears to be some serious legal trouble in store for Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson's boyfriend, Dralin Carswell. The 21-year-old was taken into custody in Georgia after leading police on a 3-mile chase during a traffic stop. And the scariest part is that Dralin dragged 17-year-old Alana along for the ride because she was sitting in the front seat when it all went down.
The scary scene played out on Tuesday.
The Monroe County Reporter shared the details of the incident, explaining that police were detaining Dralin after Monroe County Cpl. Jaleel Brown tried to stop him when a routine tag run revealed that Dralin had outstanding arrest warrants. But Dralin didn't want to pull over and instead took off, forcing police to use a special maneuver to disable his Dodge Charger and take him into custody.
'TMZ' reported that officers found some damning evidence when they searched Dralin's car.
Once authorities finally caught up with Dralin after the wild goose chase he sent them on, they discovered marijuana in his vehicle. Another passenger in the car also was taken into custody for outstanding warrants, but police say Alana was released without any charges for her involvement in the whole ordeal.
This could spell serious trouble for Dralin.
According to Page Six, Alana's boyfriend now faces a laundry list of charges, which include fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, driving under the influence of drugs, following a vehicle too closely, failure to maintain lane, and speeding.
Dralin was released from jail after two days, thanks to a $25,000 bond.
Alana and her boyfriend have been together for almost two years.
In August 2021, the former Toddlers & Tiaras child star shocked fans when she hinted that she had a special man in her life during a Sweet 16 Teen Vogue interview and photo shoot. Although she didn't dish on her new beau's age, that detail emerged later, worrying some people because there's such a significant age gap between them.
We can't help but wonder if Dralin still will have Alana's family's support after his dramatic arrest.
Whenever anyone has questioned the pair's uncomfortable age gap, Alana has pointed out that her mother and her sister are both onboard with their relationship. But it's possible all of that will change now — not just because of Dralin's legal troubles but also because he put Alana in an unquestionably dangerous situation while trying to flee authorities.
We'll have to wait and see how this all plays out, but we definitely wouldn't blame Alana if she quietly called it quits with Dralin after this.
