Allison Holker Shares How She Explained Death of Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss to Their Kids

Stephen "tWitch" Boss' widow Allison Holker is sharing a bit about how she and the couple's children have been handling the beloved DJ's death, appearing on the Today show and admitting that talking to her kids about his death has been one of the hardest parts.

TRIGGER WARNING: This post contains information about suicide, which may be triggering to some.

Allison says talking to her kids about their father's death was impossible.

"[The conversation] is honestly something I wouldn't wish for anyone," she said. "it's really hard."

The pair had two children together: 7-year-old Maddox Laurel and 3-year-old Zaia. Stephen also adopted Allison's 14-year-old daughter, Weslie Fowler, from a previous relationship.

Even though it's been months since he died, Allison says she and the children still talk to him.

She told Today how she is big on having open communication with her kids. "To us, daddy's in the stars, so we can go outside and talk to him whenever we want," she shared.

Unfortunately, that hasn't helped them with some of the harder questions they've come to her with. "First off, they just ask, 'When is daddy coming back?' And that's a really hard one," she admitted.

The younger ones still don't grasp the permanence of his death.

Allison explained how her kids will ask her a variation of the same questions, even weeks after they've already talked about things like whether he'll come back some day. "But they are still children, and still obviously want him here," she explained.

That breaks our hearts!

Obviously, all of their talks are helping the kids process their loss.

Just recently Allison went to check on her little ones and found them at the window, talking to the sky. When Allison asked what was going on they told her that they were "talking to dad."

That has to be complicated for Allison and her children given just how young her littlest ones are. Death is a complex concept for many adults, and we can't imagine how they're coping.

Stephen has been gone for almost five months.

The world was shocked to discover that Stephen had died by suicide at the age of 40. Everyone had come to know him as the enthusiastic and cheerful DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show who had a smile that could light up a room.

It's hard to imagine the hole he's left behind in his family.
